Trip Computers

Has anyone hooked a trip computer to a MountainHorse kit?

Using a GPS is the easiest way to track your mileage. It would kind of be a pain in the azz to do a magnet setup, you would have to drill a hole in the brake rotor to except a magnet and then find a way to mount the receiver. Then you would have to do some measuring to get an accurate distance per revolution.

I decided to use a trail tech voyager then I get water, air temp, Voltage for my battery, GPS and of course miles

I had taken the time to setup the stock KTM trip computer to the brake rotor. I got it working, but had to adjust the wheelsize which required disconnecting all the wires.. Anyways, the closest I could get to an accurate measure of distance was I could get it to measure half of the distance I travelled in miles, and so the speed wasn't right.

It lasted about half a year before it stopped working, and then I didn't care anymore. The ice that builds up on the wire probably broke the wire eventually.

This season I've bought a big *** 10,000mAh external battery for my Android Phone, and I will be tracking my rides using the My Tracks app, which is awesome for sharing your track, and also as a safety for getting back if the weather turns crappy. Also it's good to have the phone around just incase.

My phone has a stand alone GPS so I don't need cell signal, and it seems to work just fine from inside my jacket in a ziploc bag.

Iphones have an app called Motion X which works equally well.

Yep, the turbo is gone. 3500 miles on the bottom end. If I rode it another season, I probably would have had to pay someone to take it. I sure do hope these snowbikes are fun....I have never even ridden one!

Do you think the inline temp is better? One the KTM's, there is a sensor that goes in the top of the radiator in the bleed screw threads. I am not sure if the sensor protured enough to be in the water as I normally only use enough coolant to just cover the passages.

Yea I know what you mean ,I had to part mine out to get rid of it ,,I bought a stock pro 163 just incase I feel like trail riding ,any way enough spilled milk! I used the in line after the thermostat so I could see when it was warm enough to beat on her!with FI she need to be warm or else its in enrichment mode and the gas tanks small enough!

I ended up ordering the Trail Tech Voyager. It will log miles via GPS and in the dirt it uses both gps and the front wheel sensor.

I called Trail Tech and the Vapor will automatically log engine hours via the tach sensor, fyi.

yes I had a vapor and now the voyager so Im good to go even the wiring is the same,, although its doubtful the berg will ever see the dirt if I own it! love the 300 with wheels!
