Traveling Kalispell to Portland to Sioux Falls in mid August

I will be traveling from Kalispell, MT to Portland OR around 8/6.
Then I will be traveling from Portland to Sioux Falls thru Spokane, Billings & Rapid City around 8/8 to 8/10.
Then I will be traveling from Sioux Falls back to Kalispell thru Fargo, Minot & Havre around 8/13 to 8/15.
I will be moving my daughter and her husband from Portland to Sioux Falls.

Looking to buy a reasonably priced 23' to a 25' enclosed snow trailer in the Portland area and sell it along the route back from Sioux Falls. I may have a trailer along the entire trip. Or if somebody would like one delivered along this route I would do it free of charge for it's use.

I will also have sufficient room to haul sleds, 4wheelers or what have you along this route for a (cheaper than you could go get it) charge.

I am open to ideas that will cut my costs. PM me.

What brings them to SF???? Nice area to live. I have lived within 60 miles of SF my whole life. This area is still growing too!

They will miss the mountains though.

Now for my next problem. You people that live in Sioux Falls live among thieves and your police department is worthless. Some a??hole stole the hood off of my truck and did several hundred dollars worth of damage doing it. So I called your local cops and they were no shows. You Sioux Falls locals need to keep an eye out for a white cowl hood that fits a 1988-2000 Chevy Pickup. If you see it PM me ASAP.

Thievery has been bad down there I hear, the in-laws had their truck vandalized in their driveway a couple weeks ago.

That sucks!! I've never had a problem but I live in a neighboring town. I've heard some other *****ing about the SF police though. I just wrote it off as everbody *****es about the cops. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the stories. I'll keep an eye out and also pass it along to others I know. Are you headig home without a hood?

sorry to hear bout that but from everything on the news from sioux fall these days, theres alot of that going on. i also live just west a little ways but have relatives that live there but they havent had any problems yet...il keep my eyes and ears open...

Ultra, I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble in Sioux Falls. I've lived here for almost 5 years now and am attending college here. The cops are thick in town but seem to do nothing really meaningful. Most truely are *******s. What part of town were you in when you got your hood stolen? I'll keep an eye out for you as I travel lots of areas of the town for my job. That boggles my mind though that someone stole the hood off your truck. For the most part, Sioux Falls is a rather nice, clean town with minimal problems compared to other places of its size.....

It's the worst I have ever seen. The kids were safer in Portland. The sooner I get out of here the better. If anybody is planning a trip here my suggestion is don't. Go around, don't even stop for gas.
Cops finely did show up last night about 11:30, to write me a ticket for illegal parking, I moved it closer to keep a better eye on what is left. Cop that showed up had no idea about the theft and wasn't interested. Absolutely no wonder it's as bad as it is.

You just got a raw deal. Could have happened anywhere. SF was just ranked #1 small town a couple years ago. That included things like crime rate.

Where the heck did you get them an apartment, on the loop?

The truck sat in Portland for 4 days, nobody even look twice at it. It's been sitting outside in Kalispell for 2 years with no problems. Sat in Spokane for a day with no issues. Has sat in spokane several times in the past with no issues. I have made about a half a dozen trips to Portland over the last 4 years, sometimes up to a week and have never had even a door ding.
My son in law coined it right his statement was "he has been a victim of and witnessed more crime in Sioux Falls in 72 hours then in the 10 years he lived in Portland".
I really don't want to say where they live but we really checked into the area we thought fairly well. We were assured from multiple sources that this area was a safe area. It is a well lit area and is fairly presentable and reasonably clean, not rundown. I spent a day and a half canvasing the neighborhood for my hood, spoke with 8-9 neighbors within 2-3 blocks. Most were saying the same thing. If it aint anchored it going to be gone and the cops will do nothing.
Additionally it was obvious the truck was scoped out the night before. While I was shopping for bone yard sheet metal I left my trailer in the neighbor hood, when I got back it was not as I left it. There is no doubt it was "marked" for theft for that night. Had I not moved both of them out of town that night the trlr would have been gone.
Cop was investigating a burglary in the next apts so I cornered him with a lot of questions. His conformation was very few personal crimes but many many property crimes. So I think those words apply.
While I am thinking about it, we went to see the "FALLS". It's got a lot of garbage in it, several large bags worth. The grounds were clean but the falls are littered, needs to be cleaned up. Your town has got problems and your city officials live in lala land, I can assure you I will be sending them a note for what ever that will be worth.

I hope things turn around and they have a good experience there. I have a father, mother/father in-law, brother in-law and an Uncle that live there and in the last 40+ years there's been one incident and it was just within the last couple weeks.

If they need extra work, maybe they could offer to wade out into the falls and collect trash????

Never even thought of getting a hood jacked. Especially some of the places I've left my old pickup with the heat extractor hood.

The incident was 5 days ago. Still have heard nothing from the local PD other than the ticket they wanted to write me on Thursday night.
Well that's not totally true, My wife wanted a coffee so we hit one of the coffee stands on 10th. Real nice guy runs it, very personable. Everybody said they would go back again. So there's one.
