Hey guys, have a sled trip booked in February into Montana. Wondering if there is any laws against bringing our own slip tank full of diesel from Canada across the line for the truck towing our sleds. Any help would be great.

Unless it is purple, why wouldn't you take the empty tank across and fill 'er in Montana?

kind of wondering that myself why not go down empty and fill it, I think the only question would be on the return trip and customs wanting you to pay tax on the fuel

You could still just buy it in Montana, plenty of places have it, just don't get caught with it in your truck, I'm pretty sure they tow your whole lashup to impound plus huge fine if your caught running it.

Yea that's bad news if you get caught in the states with dyed. Not sure about what they do with you fellas up there in canadia, but it's a pretty steep fine.

The old saying says "everything is legal till u get caught" haha that being said we will burn clear diesel on our trips down south from now on.

Keep in mind that the dye can be detected even after several tanks of clear has been run through.
