Trailer wiring & power

Ok whiz kids... and Mule ;-)

I have a new trailer I'm putting an RV furnace in. To make that work I'll be adding a deep-cell 12 volt battery (may go with two 6 volts later for longer run). This is planned to be connected to the trailer interior lights as well.

The suburban has a second regular battery with an isolator to protect the actual truck battery. The second battery is what powers the trailer interior lights via the regular 7 pin trailer plug.

Since the furnace runs on 110 or 12 volt, I will likely install a plug for a generator outside the trailer and use the 110 to power the furnace and a battery charger. I'm concerned about how this will interact with the truck batteries.

Must the trailer be unplugged from the truck or have switch to separate?
Other concerns?

May add inverter too for AC stuff.

Thanks.

Well................

If your furnace is hardwired for the 110 then I dont see it affecting your truck

Having looked at the simalar set up myself, it seems easier to just run 12v for everything.

I have thought about putting a solar panel on the roof to keep two 12v deep cells charged.

And no I am not going green................just seemed like a pretty slick way of making power

actually, the furnace is wired for 12 and 110 (two sets of wires) plus the thermostat wires

my main concern is the charger in the trailer sending power to the truck #2 battery or damaging the isolator in the truck

You could run a one way diode in the charging wire to your trailer battery.
With the diode in place it would only allow power to go thru one way, that way being from your pickup charging wire to the trailer battery.
