I've seen too many people, not only here, complain about a trailer that wags, so here's your pre-season tip of the day.
I know many of us know this, but for those that don't, it's a safety hazard. A trailer wags because you have too much weight on the tail / not enough weight on the tongue! As a general rule, about 2/3 of the weight should be in front of the trailer axles for a bumper pull trailer.
When you're loading your trailer this year, look at how you load. Is the trailer balance more on the tongue? If not, can you turn that front sled around for more weight? Fuel is heavy, can it go up front or closer to the axle? You'd be surprised the difference these things make. Properly loading your trailer is safer and will help you have a better trip with a better behaving trailer.
Drive safe folks, and have fun!
ps - one last tip. CHECK YOUR HITCH!!!!! I used to drive tow truck, and witnessed a cheap crappy hitch failure that killed a young lady in the oncoming lane when it came loose. Please don't let that happen on your watch.
