Trailer: Towing & Winter Camping?

I know it has been done, but has anyone specifally built a trailer for both winter camping and sled xport?

I'm looking to do this in the next year or so. I have a local trailer builder who can bascially build anything I wanted. Obviously it would be insulated, finished, atwood/suburban style heater, full power, cabinets, microwave/toaster over, etc. Basically everything but running water.

Im looking for pictures, advice, insight, other threads, etc that show a setup sort of like this.

This will be an interesting thread to follow along with.
Not a lot of true Winter Trailers out there...

I'm looking at doing the same. I found this product that is worth considering for the sleeping end of things. Would be best in a trailer that has added height as it takes up a bit of overhead space.

I have seen this, and plan to something similar. I wont be doing anything quite this high tech and to be honest it looks like it wouldn't go up high enough for my liking. I was thinking of two twin sized thinner camper style mattresses. I would have a platform for them made out of alum that would sit in brackets on the wall near the ceiling or dropped down to ones about 20 inches off the floor of the trailer.

Here's my .02. I know you're gonna think this is a crazy idea buy my riding buddies and I were thinking about doing the same thing and after looking into it we scrapped the idea. 2 reasons. 1) You would need a huge trailer to put in 4 sleds and all the amenities to make it livable. I personally don't think it could even be done with less than a 28 footer. 2) When its all said and done they are borderline worthless and impossible to sell should the need arise.

So we decided to do a toterhome. Or toy hauler. It can be built on any semi chassis. Just depends how big you want to go. For resale purposes its best to use a tractor with a day cab and big power because the guys that buy them use them for racing and want to be able to run with the pedal down to get to races. The biggest reason to do it is because for every dollar you put in they are worth 2-3 dollars upon resale. Not even BSing. The resale on these is crazy. When you do the conversion you re-title it as an RV so no CDL is needed.

Heres one just to give you an idea. First of all that tractor could be bought for maybe 8k. Stretch the frame, add the box, do the inside as nice as you feel appropriate. The minimum to do the box would probably be around 6k as well with a generator and some other essentials. Check out some of the stuff on racingjunk.com for ideas but you could have a nice toterhome for around 15-18k and the resale would be in the 30-40k range assuming your buddies carpentry skills are good and the finished product is presentable.
