trailer size question

I recently bought my first sled and am now looking to buy a trailer. It's a 2012 RMK pro, 155" track.

Most of the single place trailer's I've found are 10' long. Polaris specs say the sled is 10.75' long, and I've measured 133" from ski tip to grab bar.

Does anyone foresee any problems with buying a 10' trailer that I may not be thinking of?

Does anyone know where they measure the sled length dimension from?

I'm thinking that it won't be a big deal to have the extra 9" hanging off the front/back of trailer - but wanted to get some advice before plunking down the hard earned cash.

(I'm definitely looking for a single place as I'll be towing the sled with my subaru and want to keep the weight down).

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely no problem with that little bit of the sled hanging off the back. A lot of guys around here run around with 4-5 feet of sled hanging off the back of their sled decks

I just bought a single trailer. 10ft

But by adding the caliber salt shield up front it gave me a extra 10" or so

My new sled is 10.5ft. So that worked out good

My King Cat is suppossed to be 11ft. long with a 162, but it's got a 159 on it when I got it used.
I ran it on the 8ft. bed of my flatbed pickup. Strapped down tight, it was no problem at all.

I just recently picked up a golf trailer for single hauling to use my Yota and save gas expense. It's 4'4" wide inside the rails, 10ft. from the tip of the front rail, to the end of the dovetail. It's only 8'8" flat surface. I think it's going to be awesome to have the tilt advantage and I scored it for $600 off craiglist, complete with 2 extra tires, full mounted spare and a hand crank to load a dead sled. I can also use it for my Hog, my mower or the ol' lady's 4 wheeler. Not as sharp as calltrex, but I like it and plan to slap some bedliner strips on it, for track guides and to save the hangups on my wire-mesh bed.
It was listed for $800 and I've seen others in my area for around the same. Not many, but a few. Should work out well for you. I hope you plan to run about and meet folks though. Sledding up in the mountains alone is not real wise. Good luck, whatever you do!

fair deal?

Calltrex - what brand/model trailer did you buy? do you mind if I ask what you paid? I called a few local trailer dealerships and was quoted around $1300 - $1400 for an aluma and a triton. Both 10' long, aluminum (300-350lbs), tilting bed.

biker pepe - absolutely. I've got a few friends with sleds and will definitely be riding in a group.

thanks for the responses~

A 10' should work just fine. Need to make sure you have a little tongue weight though. Don't want no fishtailing from incorrect weight distribution.

Use some kind of salt shield and get a good cover. Road salt is hell on sleds. It's a really good idea to hose down your nice Pro if the roads are wet.

Personally I would seriously consider getting a 2 place for the versatility. You should always be sledding with other people and driving everywhere by yourself gets old real fast. A 2 place weighs about 400 lbs + 2 sleds at 500 each and you're still only at 1500. Probably ok for shorter trips on decent roads. But if you're concerned about the weight then only haul one sled behind the subaru and still have the 2 place option to use a buddies tow vehicle. You should be able to pick up a 2 place for $1000-$1200 on craigslist and the resale will be much better as well. Just some thoughts.

AK:

I am glad you mentioned this option, because if you did n't, I would have.

I agree 100%. Get the two place trailer!

It pulls better, it backs up easier (You can see both sides of the trailer), and you can use it for other things and have a bigger deck on it.

Yes definitely go with at least a 2 sled trailer for the reasons mentioned above. I bought a 12' triton and have not been happier. I know a lot of people using a 10' trailers so they work just as good. shop around for the best deal and always check CL I always see a couple listed in my area this time of year.

Depends where u ride etc. I dont want to be pulling trailer thats wider then my truck for the hell of it.

I dont have to drive far so i just meet others there. I can leave when i want and not wait for others.

If you do decide to go with a 2 place, which I would also recommend because you never know when you may need to haul another sled, plus then you have a big enough trailer to help your buddies move all the time ;) , then you may want to consider a 12ft just incase you ever would want to put a sled cap on it, a 10ft would not cut it then with a 155 hanging over the back.
