Trailer Ramp

I have a 30ft Pace car hauler trailer that I use for my snowmobile trailer. The ramp going into the trailer get chewed up like crazy and all the metal trim has broke off from the ski's hitting it. I just woundering if anyone has had the same promblems with there trailers and what there fix was. I bought the nice 4 wheel driving dollies only to realize the C&A MT skis dont fit in them. Thanks alot>

Is there some reason you can't throw down some glides for the skis?... bedliner, etc...?

I ordered my trailer with AstroTurf (wet / dry carpet) glued on the floor. It allows you to steer the sled and you never see any wear or cuts even with Race Carbides!

Really don't want to screw down ski glides because still want to use it as a car hauler in the summer. I was thinking about Using a bedliner but was told it makes the door really heavy. I forgot to say that right now the trailers floor is all rubber. I kinda like the carpet idea, won't be slippery when there's snow on it, and I can get that carpet pretty cheap. I just wonder if new carbites would cut it up.

Look at what Caliber has to offer, especially the grip glides and edge glides.

Super sharp 60 degree carbides do cut the backing, but as it is all glued down it is unnoticeable. My trailer is 13 years old now, still the same carpet! you can't see the cuts just the spilled fluids from years of heavy use. Also if you ever get the wild hair to change it you just rip it up (square shovel or a shingle remover) and glue in the new.

Well im Defiantly Going to do 4 sets of those Edge glides and I think im going to cover the door with carpet. It just seems like a good deal but dont know since I can get all Caliber stuff at cost.

Bed liner isn't that heavy, plus you only need 3 strips of it, with the middle being a wider strip.

Another alternative is to get those plastic boots that slip over the skis and just drive them in.

I would do the whole door bc it would look dumb with 3 strips on the door. There's not a company(if there is I haven't found them or heard of them) that makes the plastic covers big enough to fit over the C&A XT or MTX skis.

Jordo - I just ordered the things from caliber for the edges of the doors...the ones that hinge. They should be here tomorrow and I will install this weekend, can get you pics if you want! I think that'll be the answer for carbides hitting the edges of the trailer and rear door when driving in/out.

I bought the trailer kit with 4 of them at HayDays so im going to install those maybe this weekend but probably next week some time. Now just debating if i take the rubber off the door and LineX it or go with that outdoor carpet?

I the caliber things don't span my gap from trailer to ramp so I'm Fu***D like normal.

SLP SKI Slips or equivalant. I have a spray in bedliner also but carbides will destroy that in a hurry. We use the trailer for camping etc. The floor looks like new. With the ski slips the sleds go in and out, over door openings, in the garage. No problems. Put them on backwards for backing out if you can not drive out.:face-icon-small-coo

Despite what you do to the ramp, I would run your sled down a paved road until your carbides are dull. Unless you're racing or riding real fast on trails all day (which most western riders don't) you don't need sharp carbides anyway. I have only painted plywood in my trailer and it holds up fine as long as the carbides are dull.
