Trailer Idea! Comments Wanted!

Guys
I have a concept that I would like to share.

Goosneck trailer with a raised rear 6 feet. This would allow for a platform that mechanically raised and lowered. This would allow you to stack sleds or 4-wheelers in the rear of the trailer. You then could have a small living quarters in the front of that area.

Reason for this design would allow you to haul 4-toys and use the trailer to camp in as well. I have looked at toy haulers and they can not haul four machines unless you go 40' long. This design would allow you to have a 16-18' box with a 5-6' goosneck.

If anyone has thought of this or knows of a trailer like this, I would appreciate any comments or information.

Generally most trailers I've seen that you can 'stack' stuff like that are raised from the front all the way back. There are toyhaulers that are raised in the back for the bed to go up and down, but you would probably be talking custom built to achieve what you want. As far as stacking atv's/sleds I think you would want to evaluate exactly what kind of weight you are loading relative to where your axles would be and how evenly you could make the load. With 4 machines at or behind the rear axles I think you are askin for trouble unless you plan to load the crap out of the front of the trailer as well. Another option that would only work for quads is to fab up a creation that would allow you to tip the first two up vertical and secure them, then have a frame or something to tip the other two vertical behind them. Unfortunetly, if you want to have designated space up front for living quarters you will probably have to go longer or get a purpose built stacker trailer with the lift. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the Response!

I have been brainstorming about this for sometime. I know it will be pricey but, this would be a way to achieve one trailer with multiple uses. As far as weight distribution, I figured you could load the sleds on top forward and the ones below backward. This would allow the machines to sit between the wheel wells.
If anyone has seen something similar or has any ideas please share!

You might want to check out some of the race trailers that the snocross teams use. Kind of the same concept you are thinking on a smaller scale. Your right it would be a pricey build......But it would be a pretty cool set-up when done.

I seen a trailer that did this, I was told it was homemade. It looked factory. This was a big trailer,3 axles with 8 bolt rims. It held 8 long track sleds in the rear

The front of the upper deck was hinged, the rear was raised and lowered with a winch and pinned into place. You loaded the upper deck first and unloaded it last. Head room was very tight in the double decked portion. He had his axles placed towards the rear of the trailer. I was told it pulled nice, He had a 1 ton diesel on the front.
