Figured Id poset this here as a fyi. Used a 12" wide strip of 1/4"thick rubber conveyor belt. Some flat stock aluminum SS screws and a bunch of UHMW strips. Looks good and bends up easily out of the way. Sure will be nice not worrying about the ice build up in the hinge. Lest year I was at it with a small hatchet and blow torch just to keep it clean.

Merry christmas

Where did you source all of the materials? I would like to copy this for my trailer. Looks great!

Thanks

The SS crews were 1 1/2 bought from a local supply co. The aluminum flat bar also bought from a local metal shop its 1" wide, came in 10ft lengths. the UHMW I bought off of eBay. its 1" x 1/2" and came in 8ft lengths. and the rubber was bought from a local rubber conveyor belt supply shop. I searched on eBay for the rubber but just didn't find anything I was comfortable with. Needed to see it and feel it. The rest of the UHMW I cut up and used for traction on the trailer doors and floor. I had oak on there before but it would splinter and break when a ski carbide hit it. I'm hopping the UHMW will stay in place and only score it.
I also used my table saw to cut some bevels onto the UHMW.
