trailer brakes aren't working?

I have an 08 duramax with a built in controller and my trailer brakes arent working and not even showing up as trailer conected wich it normally does.
the trailer brakes work on my bro's truck as well as my company truck.
however MY truck hooked up to two other trailers shows trailer connected and trailer brakes work. It's been to the dealer three times, they replaced the controller and everything else shows as working and it works on their trailer at the dealer, but still won't work on my trailer, we tried hooking up a better ground, and even tried new trailer wireing end. could use a little help here.

What is the brand of the other trucks?..... Fords and Dodges will support brake systems that the Gm's dont.... like electro hydraulic.. my buddy had to put a very expensive controller in for his boat trailer... He was not a happy man.

We both have 08 duramax's.

Gib,

For what it is worth, I had the same problem intermittently on my GMC. I finally ended up taking an emery board and scuffing the connecters on both ends. Trim the emery to size to get at the female end. Solved my problem.

Good luck.

ok thanks. we're going to take it into the shop tomorrow and go through it front to back, cleaning everything up.

yea not sure what else you can do.... the only variable is that you have a different truck and if the trailer is working on the other rigs then its the truck and the factory brake controller may not be compatible.

Thanks for the update Gibs, I was wondering how it went.

For futre use, I also found out that the springs holding the magnets in the assembly are also a weak link and will corrode/break, allowing the magnet to "float". It will work sometimes and then it moves slightly and it won't. Anyway, glad to hear you are squared away.

Safe riding.
