Trailer Brake Help

I purchased a new Aluma trailer this last year and I love it but I can't seem to get the brakes to work right. I can set the controller as low as possible on both of my pick-ups and it still locks up the brakes every time I touch the brake pedal. I have loosened the brakes from what the manufacturer (Dexter) recommends and it still locks things up. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks

WHat kind of brake controllers do you have?
Also is the trailer wiring correct? Is it getting juice fed correctly to the brakes? Could it be getting aux power somehow and locking the brakes.

ALso have you tried hooking it up to someone else's truck to see if the same thing happens?

trailer wires

There are 2 different ways to wire trailers. I have had that happen and its frustrating. But thats all i can tell you cause that's all i can remember. I believe it to do with the 2 different style rv plugs

see if you can hook up to another trailer and see if the same thing happens,if it does maybe its your controller!

I did have a controller go bad once.

One of the controllers is a factory controller on a 2012 Ram 2500 and the other is on my 1998 dodge 2500 which has a factory wiring harness si it is just a plug and play. Nothing to wire on either truck.
Thanks
