Trail Head Etiquette (Lake Creek)

Today I met with one of the property owners of the Lake Creek trail head. There are a couple of properties this trail head sits on. This owner is a very nice and respectful person, who gives us all a great opportunity to park and ride from the Lake Creek area. She said that though most snowmobilers are respectful there are some that simply cause problems. She said that she and her husband every spring pick up three to four big black garbage bags of garbage. Some sledders ride up into their yard and through their property(s).

I just want to bring it to everybody's attention that if we can pass along the word for folks to respect the right we have been given at this trail head and all the others out there by being respectful to private property owners, picking up trash etc, etc. Hopefully we can help preserve our ability to access this and other areas.

Great post Adam!
Now if only we could get a "how to park logically, not like a dumbazz" sign.
That is a tiny parking area and one challenged parker can set off a landslide of stupid

That's about right there.

I'm with the rest of you. Let's clean it up at seasons end. Actually it will be a lot easier if we just pack out any extra trash we see at the trail heads each weekend.

Lake Creek is in Heber. You head east on center street and go until you reach the parking lot. It connects to the mill hollow road or you can go towards strawberry. I will also make sure to pick up any trash i see along the way. I dont wanna loose the privilege to have such a wonderful spot to ride so close to my house.

I don't ride up there often, but there is a lot of trash to be found during hunting season. I'm sure most of it was deposited by sledders because its way back in away from the roads. Is there a large garbage can in the parking lot (Not that there is much room for one)? That might serve as a reminder to those that ride there to bring out their trash and give them a place to leave it instead of hauling it home. Maybe a "Haul it in haul it out" sign could be put there also.
Lake Creek is not the only place I find sledder junk at. I find the same problem in the western Uintas as well. Some jack Azzez love to ruin a good thing for others...

good on you guys!!!

Maybe besides a clean up, and this is really a big step, but perhaps you could talk with them about if they have to do any grading or maitence work each spring? If so maybe set out a donations box for that and hang a sign that says what the donations for towards and as a reminder of the great service it sounds like they give you guys.

I know I rode a place in MT where the parking is basically at a guys house and for 5 bucks a truck he will clear the lot AND sit at home all weekend to watch everyones trucks and keep theives away.

Sad. Easy to forgive. But NEVER EVER can someone forget. That's just how it is!

Sorry Justin. I hope you can take it, because people remember this sort of thing forever.

Anyway, back on topic.

No, its FS maintained and we PAY for it! I'm sure the owners get something for their troubles. Plus, I'm pretty sure none of them are financially strapped.
And lucky for us, its also a favorite haunt of the local Sheriffs. Good or Bad.

Got it, I must have misread cause I was thinking it was just owners, but if the FS does upkeep, well then never mind the last part.
