Tragedy in Lakes Basin Sunday?

We hit the Lakes Basin area yesterday 4/2 (near Graeagle/Sierra City, CA) and after we got home got a frantic call from my mom making sure we were okay... I guess a woman died up there sometime in the afternoon? Just wondering if anyone else heard about what happened? I know the snow was HORRIBLE (wrinkled up from melting too fast, extremely bumpy and climbing was a bastard), and the mountains looked ready to let loose at any minute (plenty of avalanches since last Sunday)... normally we're not avalanche prone, but I'm wondering if she got caught up in it?

Sending best wishes to her family and friends... Tragedy's like this really make you look at what you have and appreciate it even more!

That's a horrible way to go. Sad story. But a 64yr old woman riding by herself? She should have known better than that. No one should ever ride alone.

I talked to one of the people that responded to the accident. She was riding with her husband and they got seperated. He got stuck and walked out to the main road to flag down help and walked right by her without seeing her.Another sledder came by to help and followed her tracks. The sled had rolled on top of her and she couldn't get out.The husband gave CPR untill the EMT arrived. But unfortunately she did not survive.Tragic event
