Traction Screw Alternative

I have a set of Diamond S - TI boards coming next week and need to get some ideas for tractions screws or an alternative.

I have read in another thread that guys are losing the tracions screws from thier AF's. I have beed searching the net and am looking at maybe using a jack nut with an allen bolt instead of screws. What do you guys think?

I wonder if the guys losing traction screws on their airframes drilled out the smaller diameter tubes with the same size drill bit as what you use for the larger diameter outer edge tubing... You're supposed to drill the smaller inner tubes with a smaller drill bit...even though you're using the same size traction screws. I haven't had any issues on my airframes with traction screws coming off, but I only have ~250 miles on them too...

I haven't lost any screws either but I put red Loctite on each one when I installed them. I snapped off a couple before I turned the clutch down on my drill/driver then tightened them by hand the last quarter turn. I didn't strip any. Love my Airframes!

The person that posted this is losing the screws on the inner smaller tubes, so I guess maybe he used the wrong drill bit like CO 2.0 said. These boards are TI so I think the screws will have more bite.

I didn't use the wrong drill bit size when I installed the screw, I used the smaller one as per instructed(they want you to use the smaller bit because there isn't enough material for the screw to bite). IMO there just isn't enough material for the screw to fully engage. But I didn't locktite them either... I might have to try that.

I had about half again as many screws in my a/f's on my dragon. Never lost one at all. Loved the grip. Was hell on boots though. Trying to decide if my '13 needs some screws or not....

anyone having issues with gashing their knees/shins open on these screws? I'm trying to decide if I need to order a set of shin guards or not.

IMHO most running boards will tear your shins up. Get some Thor Force they work great.
