Track Winch

Is there any truth to the idea of tying a rope to your track and the other end to a tree. Then winding it up on the track to get unstuck. Seems possible, but does it just eat belts?

I used to do that with a polaris 4 wheeler with a straight axle, I dont think it would work to well with a sled.

I'm trying to figure out how you'd get the rope unwound from the track in conditions where you'd get stuck bad enough to try it in the first place.

Easier to flip the sled on it's side later (after unstuck) and unwind it, than to try and dig it out yourself!

With that said I would only do this as a last ditch effort, it is hard on your belt and depending on attachment your track as well!

It really is a worst case scenario type of idea in my books, but does work none the less.

I've done this to get the sled up a slick ATV ramp and in the back of my truck (used tie down in track window) it worked, but not good. Half a revolution is about all you'd want. The tie down isn't going to stay centered on the track for multiple revolutions then you'd have a freaking mess wrapped around your driver shaft, in your suspension who knows

so much could go wrong, would be a last ditch effort maybe if you was stuck by yourself and it was that or walk
