track speed in the deep

My 09 163X is stock pipe, can, and clutching.
Can only get 36mph in the deep stuff.

Sherrif, what have you done to your sled to get 90kph? Thats about 50MPh, that's quite a difference and I'm very envious!

I think the speeds will vary with snow type and track length, but the XP's are seeing mid 30's stock (163), low 40's with minor clutching changes, mid-upper 40's with proper setup.
IMO any stock 800 that shows a consistant mid 40's is very respectable.....not PEAK track speeds, but the lowest sustainable speed on a deep climb with no track poaching.
My '07 shows consistant mid 40's, peaks near 55 at times in spring snow(159).
All stock engine, just clutching changes.

Thats exactly what I was looking for....I don't care about peak but I am looking for average track speed in deep winter snow. After my 2nd grind I am not shifting out quite as far on the primary but I am getting pretty consistent 44mph track speed in the super deep snow we have lately. I sure wish they made that speedo digital so I could actually read the numbers. Between keeping my goggles clean, the intake clean, wiping the odometer, reading the rpm's, I have a tough time seeing the little digits!!!

Thanks guys.

I have a 162 x 2.5 track, minor engine porting (split second) you can only gain 2-5 hp on porting these engines. Jaws Can & stock Ceramic Coated pipe, Y pipe & Reeds . I am also running a fullly lightweighted M-10 Suspension (Racers Edge). Special clutching from the Ski-Doo race dept. ;)...I have a buddy with a plain Jane stocker & a lightweight can that I rode the other day to compare & he is getting 75-80 kmh. Not too bad either...Daryl from Racers Edge has a fix for the stock Primary Clutch that he will sell to you. 403-254-8686...He is in Revy now & will be back to work on Jan 2nd.

And also the Full Vent Kit from Ken @ Specialty Sled...Still on original belt...

we are seeing upper 30s in our group in the deep. Seems like a lot left on the table.

I am wondering what kind of track speeds you are seeing in the mts in deep snow with stock 800?

Rt

Was seeing 37-39MPH max out of my stock 08 154 X XP this weekend in 3 feet of fresh. This was at about 5500 feet in elevation. Pretty low speeds so I have been looking into clutching options with Winter Brew to improve on this.

9-12500' here. Around 38MPH in the DEEP. Vents and can. 163" 800.

I saw 40 mph (sustained for 1 minute) last week at Vail while climbing a 35 degree slope in 3 feet of medium snow. Not bad for up a steep hill!
