Track shocks

2024 9r 165, is it worth the extra $ for the Fox air rear track shocks upgrade vs the coil over version. Seems to me there maybe a few drawbacks. Let me hear your feedback. Thanks in advance..

I am a float guy. The biggest thing is the infinite adjustability of air. Super easy. I have them on both my sleds and never had an issue.

I've always had the coils, but I just got a set of rears. Nothing wrong with the coils is really liked them and noticed a difference from the walker. Plus the lock out is a game changer on my khaos. I went with the floats because I wanted more adjubility like said above. There on sale now, so I save $300

To each their own. I'll never run a non spring shock, as they are way too inconsistent due to temperature changes (both atmospheric and ridding aggressively). I'd much rather ride than screw with air pressure settings. Floats are fine if you basically only ride enough to drink beer and spectate. IMO

Interesting, I've heard this from others. Has not been my experience. Have you tried floats recently? Like the QS3 or IQS? Or are you refering to 10-15 years ago?

Fox coils will be less fiddly and slightly more plush.

Air will handle big hits better and have more adjustability.

Both are good.

I'm happy with the coils and i'm 6'2" and 230#.

I believe the shocks that are using a 5/8" rod and a internal bypass are going to be superior to all besides the air shock for adjustment.
Yep.

Every option is unique.

Lightweight air with less adjustment.

Air with more adjustability

Lightweight coil with 1/2" shaft and internal bypass

Coil with 5/8 shaft and internal bypass.

Prices may vary. (Holdover Fox stuff from last fall is pretty reasonably priced currently)

Suspension is an obvious place for improvement from stock.

If you are overweight or want heavy springs to satisfy your manliness, get some coils. If you want the lightest and most adjustable setup, get airs.

Pretty simple.
