TRACK PORTING? whats the best pattern

have you had any trouble w/ ports on the outside edges of the track? The track will be more flexible, will this make it more prone to stabbing?
 
I havent had any issues with the ports on the outside, I thought maybe I would but I rode it all last year with no issues and been out once this year with issues on it at all. The track rolls alot easier with all those holes in it and no snow builds up in the rear skid.
 
After watching all my buddies regret porting their track last year...... I'd recommend leaving it alone ;)

X2! I notes that in wet/heavy snow conditions the snow pushes in to the skids throw the port holes and it takes more power to roll the track. Becuse the wet snow collect at the rear and push out..

And second.. Why destory the aircocoon that constitute between the track and the snow whit extra holes in the track??
 
You loose 2.5-3 lbs of rotating weight which is huge, at the end of the day i dont have any snow built up in my rear suspension... tell me why thats a bad thing.

Ski-Doo does it from factory so why cant we put holes in our tracks too.
 
Don't bother, my experience its a waste of time. The 2-3 lbs. of rotating mass probably would not be noticeable on track dyno, let alone in the snow. The weight of snow pack in the rear skid is the only advantage. But that depends on the snow conditions,am. pm. tempature, early,mid and late season. I have experienced track stretch in the effect of rubber banding, causing ratcheting. This is more pronounced by hp. of the sled. Good luck
