Track Nubs chewed up.. Do you think I need to worry about it?

SOOOO... I hit a rock this weekend and broke my supporting bolt for my front suspension on my track. When I got home I realized that my HyFax was DONE and was actually eating into my rails. The aluminum was thin and hitting the rock caused the rail to snap. (lesson learned)

My question to you all is do you think this damage could have been cause by the rails being broken and do you think this track is in fine shape?

Note that it is the nubs on either side of the center idler wheel that are chewed up.

probably not

Had ac20 that looked like that for alot of miles. It looks like the bolt that broke had slop in it.That design sucked because being attacked to the boggie wheel will start to get sloppy. It happened to mine and egged out the holes real bad.I had it welded. The track hits the shock shaft, need bdx idler shock kit.. good luck someone had rails on here for 150.00good luck..

probably fine

Been running a challenger on my '07 m8 that had these nubs chewed off by the rear shock being rotated down. Running it for 700miles this season with no problems so far.

It looks like the track was too loose and was allowed to ratchet ALOT at some point. I think that you are close to needing a set of extrovert drivers.

That sled should have extroverts already right? (I thought all M chassis sleds came with them?)

I agree with SB though, it sure looks like you've been ratcheting or rubbing for a long time, I don't see how the rail could have anything to do with the numbs in between the rails that are toast.

Is this the Kit you are refering to? I have had this sled for 5000 Miles and I am just seeing this issue. It could have been because the rail was broken causing the suspension to push down the axle bolt into the track?

Do you think this would have caused the damage to the track?

Here is what my Main Drive sraft looks like... I think they look like they are in pretty good shape.

Seeing that you have drivers that run on the outer nubs, I will say that it wasn't ratcheting and something is definitely rubbing on the inner nubs. That cross shaft looks fubar. Do the holes worn in the right side match up with the nubs? It looks like they might.

Now that you all mention that you can see rubber on that axle and it does seem to lineup.

I am gonna take all these responses and say that the track remains good and going to rebuild as is!

Thanks

I have a 04 mountain cat...sounds like the same suspension setup as yours. I seen the picture you posted of the front arm mounting bolt that runs from one slide to the other and it reminded me of a problem I am having. The long bolt runs from one side of the rail through the bottom of the shock and then to the other rail. the bolt is covered with aluminum spacers(which were completely gone on your pic). What is happening with my sled is that the inner nobs(just like on your track) are rubbing on those aluminum spacers. The rubber track is acutally rubbing so hard and fast that it is wearing holes right through the aluminum spacers. I am lucky i caught this problem now or i may have ended up like ours. Anyhow, I am not sure how to fixs it or what is causing it. If you find a remedy please post!!!

andthat is what mine looked like also from track rubbing..there is not much clearence there

They rub the cross shaft if the hyfax get wore down. The hyfax do not have to be worn very much before this starts to happen. They should have given another 3/16th inch. Then you would have hit your rails the same time you hit the cross tube.
