Track / Front Skid Setting Consensus?

Yes I know - this has been talked about over and over and many posts, however, I can't seem to find a consistent consensus as to the best settings.

Have an 09 700 155. Had some weird ratcheting type issues last year and realized that I was missing a section of nubs off the inner portion of the track. Also found out that while the track had the F-Bomb mod done to it, it was cut fairly short for that, 1.5 - 1.75".

Got a great deal on a 2013 5.1 take off so I am going with that and not another aftermarket purely due to price and the overall good reviews of the 5.1.

In researching best settings for the skid, I can't seem to come to what the general consensus is for the best setup for the rear suspension.

Will be riding in the Togwotee area and want the sled setup best for boondocking and powder riding. I'm not big into climbing.

I've read everything from full loose on the strap with a stiff front shock to full tight, shock dropped to lower mounting hole and soft front shock.

For this type of riding, is there a consensus in how best to setup my rear skid? I have Exit X1's front and rear. Will have the skid out this week to get the new track installed.

Also, is the general consensus on the 5.1 to still cut down just to the base of the fingers and not necessarily need to screw the lugs?

Appreciate the insight in advance.

My preferrence is shock in lower position with straps all the way out...

I love my 09 D8 in the lower shock mount hole with the straps in the middle position. Gets up on top fast, tractors around in the trees well.

I saw the other threads, but while one thread may state one thing, another thread states another. Just like here already. Some say loose some say middle, etc.

Is there for sure a consensus that the front shock should be in lower mounting hole? Then straps will depend on personal preference either middle or loose?

Does anyone believe it should be full tight?

Middle for straps. Shock in lower position. Rear arm drill a new hole in rail 13/16" hole center to center back. Move arm back into new holes, gets rid of the sag and suspension works better.

Have yet to ride it in deep snow but on the garage floor the front of the rails sit off the ground. And looks like a far better approach angle. And it did not take the fun factor out either, was in some wind blown stuff and it still was fun to wheely around with even with straps pulled in.

The front shock lower is a yes? It collapses easier so it trenches less. As for straps the higher you suck the front skid up the better approach angle but you lose the fun wheely factor and you gain higher ski pressure. So I went in the middle and so far I like it.
