TPS. TIming And fuel??

I need very well based asnwers here please.season is getting warm and not much time left for base testing. I need to know exactly how the tps works. does it controll fuel and or timing? with the tps is a tollarance im trying to pick where in that tollerance is best for my 5500 mile dragon. dropped my base to . 69v with 95 opposed to .70 base with 93 idle origional. great bottom mid power and response. top end was terrible 77 79 hundred rpm flat and just not pulling just hit a wall with an idle of 2300 rmp not acceptable.so the book idle 95 doesnt apply besides its a screw moving your butterfly just as the throttle cable who cares.i cheated thought i could run a touch leaner with 69 v i was wrong.i need to know which way the voltage is changing the fuel. i assumed lower v equals less fuel.however that doesnt totally explain the good gains and big loss on top end.i felt as if it also ajusted timing and if so does anyone know witch was is witch? sorry for the hassle but i need to know this for fine tuning. i moved .01 - 02 v and totally rearranged things

The T.P.S. along with the coolant temp sensor along with the air temp sensor send info to the E.C.U.

The E.C.U. then chooses one of several pre-programmed maps affecting timing AND fuel based on;

1) AIR TEMP
2) ENGINE TEMP
3) ENGINE R.P.M.
4) THROTTLE POSITION

*****************************************************************************************

On a related note, The 2007 D7's in particular will RETARD the engine timing 2*-4* when the engine temp is below 120*, all else being equal.

I could never get a straight answer if the POLARIS DEALER RE-FLASH for the 2007's altered this fail-safe feature.

The 2008 D7's did not have this cold temp timing retard feature

You mat want to check out the VIPEC Stand-Alone E.C.U. Thread in the PRO-RIDE section.

Most modded Watercraft have MOTEC or VIPEC stand-alone E/C.U.'s

As more of these are commonly available, the prices become more reasonable and then you're able to fine-tune all the tuning parameters of your toy.

good info i like it. took a quick look into the stand alone ecu , quite impressive it is the answer to all of these cfi sleds.i dislike the timing change for cold running engines..unfortunetly mine operates 105 to 120 with the updated thermostat.I bought this sled a couple weeks ago very little maintance done to it and trying to improve one thing at a time so it can run more predictable before any mods cross my mind.

If you want to try to increase your D7's engine temp, You can get the 2007 COOLANT UPDATE kit for your 2007 D7 from your dealer.
Includes a couple of hoses and re-routes the coolant flow.

It essentially is 2008 D-7 parts, hoses, etc

Cost is around $ 45

You may want to check your engine timing (when warmed up) and see where your sled is currently at
