TPro-174 3"??

I put in an order for the new timbersled rear skid for my Tpro. Now I'm debating on doing the 174 3" at the same time. Has anyone done it? Other than drivers what is needed?, D&R?, anti-stab kit? Also I'm curious to clutching and what others have found for a gear setup that works. Any info on this is appreciated

You will have to narrow the trak... the 174" 3" only comes in a 16" wide track...

If you are not good with cutting a big chunk of $1000 rubber belt... then, IMO, pay someone to do it.

Youll need a tunnel extension.

There is no "D&R" for this sled... you will need to buy the extended chaincase from Avid-products. (you can also ge the AC style 3" pitch drivers that you will need from them)

Strengthen the tunnel... with all that force and leverage... minimum get the side plate reinforcements... OR there are full tunnel side kits out there.

IMO.. With that much torque feedback to the secondary.. the Team Tied clutch may come in handy.

Life is good.... POst up pics of your final setup... keep your Fellow SW'ers in the loop..

I talked to Robbie and he has a kit set up for this. Talking to a few other people I hear that the avid ext. chaincase is a pain to install. Anyone have any input on this? How about diss-advantages to going to a 3" paddle? Thanks for the help

Disadvantages of a 3 inch. Probably track speed. Pm 2dabar. He did a 2.5 174 this year.

With a 3" track... In hard pack or on the trail getting to the deep stuff.... you cant really go much faster than 25-30mph without causing damage to the track.

Also, since it needs to be cut narrow... the warranty is void from that point out on the track.

Heres some threads for you.

there are no draw backs to the 3 in except the pulled mussel in your shoulder if your not in shape.:face-icon-small-win

Warranty on the track really isn't an issue for me, boost was a bigger risk and cost then a track, and I don't think I could go back to a sled without it.

What kind of track speed were you guys seeing with a 174 3" under boost? How many psi?

Did anyone notice any higher engine temps with the extra load of the bigger track?

I must say all this positive input is really making me lean twoards the 3". Any other suggested mods to go with it?

174 3"

9 pounds of boost about 60 MPH with 8 tooth 3" drivers which are a little bigger than stock. Engine temps were the same 120-130 as stock.

Everyone I have spoken with that is running the 3 doesn't regret it! I would be running it also, but all I can clear in my edge chassis is a 2.5.

Don't regret it one bit on my 04 Escape with Avids chaincase. I've had mine on for 2 seasons and absolutely zero signs of it coming apart and I've exceeded 25 mph on the trail:face-icon-small-coos.

The track does weigh a lot but the gains offset the weight by more!

Ok so I got all the parts I need lined up to do the 174 3". Now I face a problem with the avid chain case and my tunnel dump exhaust. At first I was skeptical on if the muffler would clear the chaincase and from the pics that Robbie sent me I'm confident it will. Now once the chain case is installed it would lower the track, which I think would place the track right in the middle of my exhaust hole. Without having a custom muffler made, side dump or stock hole, or butchering the tunnel this setup, IMO, isn't going to work together. Plus I kinda like the tunnel dump feature. Does anyone gave any ideas on this??

3 inch tracks can exceed 25-30 mph on the trails. I have had multiple 3 inch tracks at 80+ mph on countless occasions and not had one issue with the tracks coming apart. Go 3 inch and you will be hard pressed to go back.
