Toyota Tacoma

Do any of you drive tacomas? I am wondering if its possible to upgrade the rear susp. to accomadate the truck to be able to hold 2 sleds. Max stock payload weight is 1360 lbs.. would like to beef it up a bit to throw on a deck and two sleds. who''s done this? methods? cost?
any info or opinons regarding this would be appreciated.

LOYAL TOYOTA DRIVER!

i got a 2006 tacoma, and i did the rear leaf tsb in back. Its basically adding a leaf spring because they come with pretty weak ones from the factory. I did this with a leveling kit in front and the rear leaf in back for 450 said and done. You do not need the front leveling kit, and i bet theres some guys whove beefed up theres for towing. For two sleds you may need a little more though, so i would ask ttora.com, or toyotanation.com.. These are both forums that have dedicated sections for our trucks. Guys there could give you a more accurate idea than me. It may need new shocks over stock, especially if your taco is the base model. Bilstienn 5100s mabye?

Enjoy the Truck! how about some specs?

And dont mind all the rednecks on here telling you how toyota doesnt make trucks, and how were gonna be the downfall of the earth for not "supporting" the American economy.

Also, check ur rig to see if it has three or four leafs in back, mine came with three wich is why i added one...hence rear leaf "tsb" (as its called on ttora

A Tacoma with a 2 place sled deck?

I don't know you, so I will refrain from any derogotory remarks.

But if I did say something less than complimentary, it would be like...............
"WTF are you thinking"
or
"that's about as gay as a poop packed pee pee hole"

The last time I checked you are required to have a CDL to drive a "truck". What you guys are talking about is known as a pickup. When your truck has three axle groups and is used to haul large amounts of goods or supplies.......then you can call your pickup a truck. I have never thought of a Toyota in the same category as Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, etc.....

Maybe add a drop axle for hauling the sled deck:D

My point is that a 2 place deck is too much for a real 1/2 ton, much less a compact.
Perhaps I was too blunt last night.
Sorry, I'm not here to give warm fuzzies, and it simply blew my away that someone would consider it. (Someone north of the Mason/Dixon anyways)

sure its pushin it, but we know one is easily doable. And the new tacoma blows all other compacts out of the water, and is comparable to some 1/2 tons in my mind.....

i think it possible with the right combo of stuff and driver will;)

If my dog said something like that, I would hit her with a rolled up news paper,
shout "NO" and then rub her nose in it.

the reason why i ask is because i saw a tacoma about two weeks ago with 2 sleds and i scratched my head and asked "what's this guy's secret?" because mine stock barely likes one sled.... seen a few pics on ttora.com that a couple ppl posted of their new tacomas with 2 sleds running air leveling kits capable of up to 2000lbs leveling.. so now that the weight is off the suspension from the air... What's the real harm? sure you're a bit high for a slightly smaller truck. you just have to take er a little slower around corners etc. But after seeing these setups it got me thinking there is a cheaper way then having to buy a new truck.. and really... i dont see much harm to the vehicle if the weight is off the suspension.. seems to be working for the few bold enough to push their yotas this far. Thoughts?

Well I once saw a Ford Ranger with a 5th wheel trailer, that doesn't make it right though.

lol... i dont think a ranger witha 5th wheel is right either.. im not trying to argue with you. im aware it is pushing the limmits of the truck.. quite far... not nearly convinced its the route i will go either. i am just curious as to what YOU GUYS feel there is for risk factor to the truck once the weight is not on the susp, once it is on air...

thanks for the wished luck! but do you have an opinion to whether or not with the weight on air it will cause any dammage or anything bad to the truck?

Regardless of can it be done....What is the load you can legally take? Cause its not like ford/dodge/chevy that you cant tell real quick looking what truck it is(1500 vs. 2500 vs. 3500) A cop will not see you and just think it must be the bigger truck. If you are over the limit, or extremly close with the sleds then you will have problems legally. Sleds+gear+people adds up quick.
