Tow with a Pro

I'm no expert in towing sleds, but I was the horse the other day, and here is the best way I came up with to tow with a Pro. I was pretty nervous about the tunnel getting tweaked, I did a couple things you might like to comment on.

Here is the setup:

1) ran a motorcycle strap (green) around both the board support AND the bumper (yes its a Cobe, but I think this may also allow you to tow with the stock bumper.) this distributes the towing forces over the whole rear section of tunnel, not just the back.
2) Its hard to see, but I ran a strap around the spindle and rear part of the ski loop, so I was actually pulling on the spindle. The strap goes through the loop so that you get a slight tow-in effect to eliminate wandering.
3) I attached a Snobunje Cobra hook into that strap right near the back of the ski loop. By itself, the Cobra is too stretchy to tow with, but double it up like this, and it is twice as stiff and still takes the shock off the tunnel and bumper. Duct tape the hooks onto the strap.

Worked pretty well over some nasty terrain with nobody on the dead sled. Others do anything like this? I see the Snobunje setup, but didn't like just using the bumper, or towing from only the ski loop, especially on non-groomed stuff.

I have towed out a M1000 out twice with my pro on the stock bumper while the guy who owned the sled was on it and had no issues but seeing how you set that up I will do next time around

Had to pull my old rmk 700 out the other day I had 2 snow bungees and tied one to each ski and then each bumper mount on the pro. Seemed to work well although at the time I was wishing I had a strap to tie to the running boards also to distribute the pressure like you did.

can't tow with rear bumper?

After seeing how they snap (in the middle of the aluminum bracket) and that there is only a rivet holding into the end of the carbon fiber, a straight pull would probably be OK, but anything on an angle would put it at risk. If towing, breaking off the rear bumper is kind of a deal killer, not really an option if you want to continue to tow.

22 freakin miles

Last ride out with mine we had to tow it out 22 miles. (FREAKING FLATLANDERS!@#$%^&*)

we tied from the spindle up through the ski loop clear up to the running board mounts. Only had a couple sections of moguls but towed it out without any problems to either sled.

I am building some reinforcements for our Pro's right now..hoping to have them ready to install by this weekend, they should totally cure any tunnel issues..will post a thread on it once i start on them...
