Tow start?

Has anyone tow started a berg with a dead battery? I'm just wondering if the power for the fi comes from the batt or stator.

Good Luck ! I highly doubt you can do it. U need the battery power for the EFI unless someone knows something i dont LOL

the ktm and berg does have a capacitor so I believe with that it should start the bike with just the push starting. Also most other FI bikes just have kick starters to start the bike so that should factor in too. the stator puts out enough power to power the FI and fire the plug also replenish the battery source so considering all the factors it really should work the capacitor should store enough energy to get the motor going but I do not know for sure.

Going to have to give it a try sometime. Would be nice to know before it became a necessity

all the parts are there to make it work I am interested to see if it would work because I ride a 2013 ktm 450sx and it DOES NOT have a kick starter!:mmph:

You need a little bit of juice in the battery for the efi to work. As long as the battery isn't completely dead, it can work. The trick is the actual jump start without just dragging the track on the snow. Pick 3rd gear and slowly let out the clutch so to not lock up the track. I've done it before I got my Rekluse. Now my bump start procedure is different. Best to ride with a buddy and jump start with cables. Get an old electrical cord and put alligator clips on it. Works great!

Booster cables are a good idea for the battery issues but it would also be nice to be able to start it with a push. I ride on the dirt with a friend of mine who has a Berg 570 and we ended up push starting it all day when his starter crapped out.

I think I'm getting one of these. It's barely bigger than a smartphone and somehow has enough juice to jump start a V8 truck multiple times. It also has a USB port for charging your phone and other gadgets. I'd think this would be a must-have item for snowbikes with e-start and fuel injection and no backup kick start. I'm getting one for year-round use with my snowbike, dirt bike, dualsport and I'll probably even take it with me on family trips just in case the minivan battery goes flat. :face-icon-small-win

Micro-battery starter

Thanks for the tip on the micro battery thingy. I have a Berg 570 and can't help wonder what I'll do when Murphy's Law arrives sooner or later. I have serious doubts about bump starting, even using the 3rd gear/hold the shift lever up trick. This is the slickest solution I've seen. I have a brand new, never used set of small moto jumper cables if anybody wants them, make you a deal.

…not that I'm riding anything at all at the moment - not a flake of snow in western/central WA worth riding on at the moment.

I have ordered one also

seems like a great way to go!!
