Tortion Axel for trailer

Had to replace a tortion (sp?) axle on my enclosed trailer before the season. It was falling apart and just needed to be replaced.

I contacted several local trailer companies about getting a new axle and was really starting to get ticked off. I know for a fact that they all called Red Neck Trucking for a new one. They are basically one of the only companies that make them.

I got varying prices from $550 to $750 for for the new axle. Some gave lower prices and added high shipping/freight costs while others gave higher prices with lower shipping/freight costs.

When I contacted Triple T Trailers in Franktown, Co they said they would call Red Neck Trucking and get back to me with a price. Five minutes later they called back and said the axle would cost $375 including tax. I then asked what the freight/shipping costs would be. The guy on the phone was all "freight...they dont charge feight...they will just drop it off next time they pass thru town?"

WTF were these other companies thinking, some were doing an almost 100% markup!

Needless to say Triple T Trailers has earned all of my future business!

Red Neck has a store near Fort Collins. I bought my replacement there for $250 last winter.

what size axle did you buy? did it have electric brakes and easy lube hubs? Also was it a 3500 lb rated axle?

red neck trailer rules

i just picked up a new torsion axle (ezluber 2000lb) for $205 from redneck trailers. Cant beat them...

Dizzle's good at the internet searching, not so good at the wrenching. ;) Not to mention he brings the trailer over on the coldest day, WTF. When are you bringing it back over to put the new one on?

diz, if you would quit burying that thing in people's front yards you might not have to change axles so often!!! [:-O

make sure you get the axle with the correct drop. there should be a tag on the old axle with the info. or get someone who knows how and where to measure from if you don't know yourself. i thought i knew how to measure this and ended up with axles that rubbed the bottom of the deck, blew out tires, and cost about an extra $1,000 to deal with. one of those lessons in life that you wish you could forget but never will......
