Top Cat Trailer? (Trailer Fiberglass Top)

Anybody have a Top Cat Trailer like this

PC010064.jpg

Question: A little snow gets on top and it's impossible to keep it in the open position to load sleds. Anybody beef up the lift mechanism?

How long is that Topcap and do you have to use the Vee at all to fit your 162 in there? I'm looking at a 12' that's straight across the front and am concerned about my Dragon fitting inside since the rear is sloped like yours.

Never had a problem with mine staying open. Are your lift rams shot? Mine is 12' straight across and a 162 Summit X fits into it just fine. Have 4-6" to spare.

I had one 4 or 5 years ago, great trailer ! Sure is nice to have clean sleds, and spring and fall there awesome if ya get in trouble on a loggin road, unload the sleds and turn it around by hand. And she fits in the garage. Like other mentioned, get at least 12 feet in length.

Only prob ive ever seen with them is the very odd perfect temp, the rubber weatherstrip on the fibreglass melts the freezes to the aluminum. So ya gotta lightly drop kick the sides, but like i mentioned thats an odd dealio.

12 ft and my 162 apex fits fine. With 8 inch risers the mountain strp hits the top of the shell.

I guess i need to check if the shock is shot.

The rubber does freeze to the deck. Need to cary a pry bar.

Also have this cap on a tritton . Really like it allot , but it does freeze down . We use a mixture of anitfreeze in a old dishsoap bottle. Pain in the *** tho.:(

Top Cat on a Triton

I've got a 12 footer, straight across the front. My M7 162" fits with a little spare room (but not much). I've had the top freeze to the trailer at least once as well. Was going to Armor All it to see if that would make it release when frozen. Have not had a problem with top staying open but have noticed that when it's cold and has some ice/snow on it, it needs a push to open fully. Stays open once it gets there though. I'd say new struts are due.

When I had my Top Cap trailer I would spray all of the weatherstripping with a silicone spray at least once if not twice a year. After spraying the weatherstripping with it I didn't have any problems with the cover freezing down.

I too used silicone on my Sledbed at least everyother trip. That took care of the freezing issue. Snow load wasn't a problem. All in all, a great trailer.
