Tool free hood removal! Almost zero $

In an effort to carry one less wrench and stop losing my tuf lok rivets I made my own hood hardware, that requires no tools and only cost $6

m6 clamping knobs $3ea @ ace hardware
3/32 bit & drill press
Nylon string
Paper clip

First the screws up at the steering post were replaced with the m6 clamping knobs. The flanges on the knobs needed cut down as to clear the hood ! Easy enough!!

Then those dumb tuf lok rivets
Drilled 3/32" hole through the pin, threaded the nylon string, knotted it behind the pin, tied extra string to the console.... viola no more lost rivets and very easy to remove... just pull the string!!

Kinda corny but its boring when there's no snow!

BTW the paper clip is for threading the string through the hole in the rivet!

Lol I was wondering what that was for!

Melt the end of the string and smoosh it to a point, push the paper clip ( or other small ridgid wire) inside the string ( like a catheter)! And use the ridgity of the wire to thread the string into the rivet!

I think I actually used some thin picture hanging wire!!
