Took the plunge today. 2009 M-8 SP 162

Well after jumping ship over to Yamatank last year I am coming home:D I put down a deposit today for a 09 M-8 SP 162.. Man its going to be a long summer:( I guess it will give me time to get most of the mods bought .

for the $$$ why didn't you just go to the M1000?

Just wondering why M8's
I went from a M7 in 05 to two M1000 in 07 one in 08..
Laying back till 2011 when the new fuel injection is figured out and the new chassis we will see in 2010 is run through and re-vamped

I too snow checked an M8 SP 162. Should be a great sled. The M1000 is $1700 more than the M8.

M D you got a crystal ball ? fill us in on the 2011 changes, am thinking of snowchecking wifes not to hip to that, maybe I can do enough honey-do's (or begging) by 2011. I am on the list to demo the 09's april 4 & 5 should be exciting.

I don't need an M1000 for what I like to ride and would rather have the lighter sled, thats why I ordered the 09 M8. Full slp pipe kit with proper clutching and 3" riser will be on mine. I did not get the SP so mine does not have the adjustable riser. I am also going to rip off the stock graphics and put some Monster graphics on. I don't care much for the 09 graphics.

The 1000 is a nose heavy son of a gun... Not as bad as my ex yama nytro though:D Plus when I am done it will have more hp than the 1000;) Thats all I can say for now:rolleyes:

A freind of mine demoed the 09 M8 & M1000. The end result was at the end of the day the group perfered the 09 M8. They liked it as a great boon docking sled. And loved the new track.

Thats depends on if cat does a reflash and leans the motor out a bit or not.
My wifes 08 M-8 got a reflash last week that leaned out the bottom quite a bit..

I ride with M8's and the only......THE ONLY difference between the two sleds is my 1000 has more power! The handling is exactly the same! I am 190lbs 6' tall and my M1000 is stock....i dont know why anyone would buy the 800!
unless of course you just want to be back in the 700 class power.
everyone says the nose is heavier..I am very seroius when I say that I can not tell the difference!
Like my buddy says.
Usually the people complaining about the weight are the ones who dont know how to ride. lol

according to most people who weigh both the m-8 and 1000, there's about 28 or so lbs difference between them...that's like a light weight exhaust system and air intake mod to take out the plenum on the stocker (about 24-25 lbs)...but you can do that on the m-8 as well to keep the difference intact...having owned both the 8 and the 1000, the 8 is a funner, lighter sled no doubt about it....but the 1000 has that confidence of the big torque when the snow gets deep and steep....you can approach a hill a bit slower on the 1000 and still be confident of making the top....however, in certain difficult spots, where the going is slow, with difficult side hill issues, ridge tops that are heavily drifted come to mind, the 8 is easier to ride and cope with....i'm 6' and 180 and a good rider (ahem, if i do say so myself)....my riding buddy is 6'4'' and 230, he handles the 1000 about the way i do the 8....so if the country is a bit more open, go with the 1000....the more difficult/technical the ride i start leaning to the 8....also look at the sleds of the group you ride with most, cause being about the same as them means a lot also
