interesting

I wonder how many times that is going to happen. I took my 09 down to West Yellowstone this weekend along with 2 08's and another 09 to get the update done. I wonder what they have found out down there. Sounds like they have already done a few. I was on the fence about doing it since mine ran fine, but it sounded like it was either do it or after June you would be SOL anyways. Could be a surplus of perfectly good pistons in the next few months.

Look close at the rings for excessive clearance between the ring and ring groove. This is where I found most of the 800 engine problems.

This might make you feel better. Before I took mine in I gave it a compression
Test, it was 125psi on both ,and my pistions looked not bad through the wye
pipe.

Got the new pistons put in and I told them to mildly hone the cylinders, I kept the old head on. Guess what 138 psi on both without the rings being sealed yet.

It may look good but it's nice to know you have two rings in each side.:D

so you are also going to us the old Head???????? I am going to go that route also as the compresion ratio will be higher

Nope going to use the new head. Jerrod at BD said the new head controls combustion better allowing you to run 1 more pound of boost without detonation.

Did you have to pay for your update kit? If not, and you got it warrantied, your dealer is going to get his nut$ in a ringer because Polaris is requiring the pistons and cyl head returned for inspection.

Mine is a n/a ported combo, but like SD 3 said the new head will be te way to go for turbo's.
When you have a good dealer they do what's best and what the customer wants.
Yes I will buy from them again.
I don't think polaris will realy look at everyone after seeing what they saw already.
Proby straight to the smelter to collect the cash .:beer;

I think its because they lowered the compreeion to less than 12>1 Turbos will run more bbost at lower compresion ratios but will still feel lazy on the bottom ,,,,I think I will run a aftermarket head with at least 12.5>1 and I guess because of the lower compression ratio they are changing powervalve springs and they feel stiffer.I dont know if all this is such a good Idea yet????
