Too soon for Fish Lake Cabin rental?

Hey folks...we've never ridden Fish lake before and really want to.

We're considering renting a cabin and riding from the porch for a couple days.

This wont be an inexpensive endevour so we want to semi-ensure we'll have a good time.

Groomed trail riding is fine with us, with maybe a little side riding/boondocking if the urge hits.

Do you all think the second or third week of January will be too soon or should we hold off till maybe February for the best bang for the buck??

Thanks! :face-icon-small-coo

Fish Lake is a little ahead of average for snow this year, but Christmas – New Years is very crowded so the trails get a little thin and bumpy, although the groomers have been doing an excellent job so far!

The best riding is definitely January - February and beyond…

We are prone to get a dry period in there some time too where everything gets fairly tracked up and icy, but that is the gamble.

The best gamble would be late January (third week+) so there is a good chance of decent depth and still some good chances for the powdery smooth trails and good snow storms.

It is a large area with great trail riding with some good off trail opportunities. If you can swing some mid-week time you could have a lot to your selves.

Have Fun
