Too reflash or not? 08 m1000 153

Hi guys,

Buddy of mine has a 08 m1, we ride at sea level and his sled has been running flawless. He has a egt gauge and his temps are staying conseistent though low-high range.

Dealer called him last week saying they had a few recalls. Not 100% sure but something about airbox, sensor and a NEW reflash.

I've read a few threads about people seizing their sleds after reflashes.

Am I wrong? Sure he proceed with the recalls???

I had mine reflashed before I picked it up new, and with a 162 track, and break in fuel in it, it whooped my buddy's m1000 153 in a drag race. Way better throttle response and mid range. Do it!

Woke mine up too..bottom end feels flawless..wants to walk on its hind legs ..its so good.

if his sled runs fine without the re-flash, DO NOT DO IT. I ride sea level as well, had a bog/die that the reflash cured but it made my sled run terrible.

I have the same sled, ran flawless, 6-9 did reflash and it runs even better.
If you have a can, it may not run as good from what I have read.

I have a 07 m1000 with can and air box mod, ran great before reflash. Now it has a bog at 4500 to 5000.

Buddy with a 08 1000 with a can, now has the same bog with the reflash.

If your 100% stock or haveing troubles the reflash is ok.
But with any mods, don't do it if it's running good

2 all stock 2008 M1000s except for MBRP can. Flash made both sleds run worse. We added 4" intake and air intake screen update to see if this will help lean it back out a little bit. Will post if there is an improvement. Would like to know who has seen an improvement with a can and what type of can they are using? Cheers!

Mine had some issues, so i flashed and its definitely better now!!! But if it was perfect before, i NEVER would've done it.

Except with 09 reflash you can EASILY add electronic engine reverse... that made it real worth it for me.

Forgot to mention, he has a y-pipe and mbrp can. In our group there is 2- 09 m1000 2- 09 m8 2- 09 summits 146 and 154 and mine 08 m8.

It's pretty even between all our sleds up to 60 mph then the m1000's pull away and he (08 M1000 y and can) pulls away from the stock 09's

Only can do it on the 1000, no reflash for the m8 at this time...

read the thread about it - its on the front page in this section right now.

and yes - i've done it. works PERFECTLY.
