Too many suspension choices...Help!!!

Here's what I'm looking for. I have a 2007 Apex Mt SE with a Boondocker 25 turbo and head shim. With my gear I am close to 250 lbs. My trail riding consists of getting back to where the off-trail riding begins. I'm not so much of a boondocker as I am a hill climber. I'm looking to update my rear suspension. I don't want the lastest, greatest, lightest, etc. I need good proven technology that will get the job done and hold up over time. From what I've read the two track choices are the Powerclaw and the Challenger extreme. I want to be able to climb in a variety of snow as well as have some control going downhill. I'm leary of the Powerclaw as it hasn't been out that long. It's the suspension that's driving me nuts...too many options! I'm not wealthy so can't afford "the" very best, but also don't want to spend the bucks and end up with something that I regret. Criteria: Support my weight, handle the whoops on the trail, hook up and keep the skis down and be dependable as hell. I know I'm not asking much and it's probably the same question that a lot of people have asked in different forms. But there has to be some kind of consensus on what works in the real word. Thanks in advance. (sorry if this is too long, but it seems like people always need the details in order to offer sound advice)

Racers Edge rear arm with coilover. 403-254-8686. Strong, lighter than stock(coilover), rides amazing, and couples to keep front end down.

^^^ great skid. Also what I have seen on the Apex is the timbersled works good if you stay below 15#s of boost on the stock tunnel. 2nd and what I think is the best for the stock tunnel is the Arctic Cat skid, you do have to remount this differently than your stock holes, 2 1/4" forward and 2" up. This skid works great for any amount of boost, but only in the stock tunnel!
I just saw a m1000 skid for sale in the swapmeet with low miles for $850.00. That is a great deal.
And if you can find a used M10 skid then you would have the best! IMO

Some on here have commented that the Timbersled wasn't that hard to bend. Any truth to that? Don't know anything about the Racers Edge but I'll check that out. I agree, I would like to have an M-10 but they are kind of spendy too. Thanks guys.

M10 works very well but I have not had very good success with longevity. I have broke axles, shocks and bent rails from what I consider everday riding. The most expensive is not always the best, my next build will be with either racer's edge or possibly EZ Ryde. Just my 2cents though.

rear skid

No body ever mentions K-MOD, they are the least expensive and similar to the HOLZ kits . They work AWESOME are dependable and ride very nice! 1450.00.... can you beat this...... how much is the Racers Edge kit? If it's only a rear arm and coil over shock it shouldn't be that much....right? The KMOD is a Front Arm & Rear arm, coil over Fox O Pro or Fox FLoat, and transfer blocks to adjust depending on boost. This is the best bang for the buck PERIOD! cheers :D

my timbersled suspension bent up with a little abuse. If i was to do it over again i'd prolly try ez ryde.

racers edge is more than k-mods i called for a price on one but can't remember price but it's way more than a k-mod

What about doo and pol suspensions? They're lighter than the nytro and should go in as well

I run a K-mod in my sled. It took a little back and forth to get the valving and spring setup for my type of riding, but it is a good kit for the price. Obviously it is not going to be as good as an M-10 nor an ez-ryde, but it doesn't cost as much either.

Not sure where the 1400 price came from, as the KMOD's are 1100 with the coil over, no float, no transfer block, no drop brackets. I guess it is around 1400 with all the other stuff included...

I don't have a turbo on mine, but I noticed an increase in traction, mostly at low speeds, compressing the rear and preloading off of little hits. I also noticed a reduction in ski lift. I have the limiters at full out, but I think the stiffness of the rear shock has a lot to do with this too, as I have the big boy spring and stiff valving.

Mine has held up pretty good, but like most things on a snowmobile, they will break eventually, especially when running over stumps, trees, and other non snow objects. :D

Hope this helps

i run cr m10 , also have ridin w guys running the racers edge suspension kit, this kit is keeping the nose down in steep climbs, if your on a budget i would go w the racers kit, just my 2 cents

So who is running the K-mod on boosted Nytros? Does it keep the front end down I think any suspension that will keep the front end down is a plus for the nytro. Looks like for the money either a K-mod or Racers edge is the best upgrade..
