Too many avy deaths!!!!

I have seen threads like this out there but would like to see what everyone has done in preperation for avalanches. While last year my buddies and I were not nearly as safe as we should have been, this year we have taken precaution. Before only some of us had shovels, 1 of us had a beacon (pointless), while we have grown up in the mountains and know our area very well none of us had an avy class under our belt. Now we all carry shovels, have beacons, have taken 1 avy class and waiting for the on site avy class with Mike Duffy. While this does not guarntee anything about an avy, it does increase your chances of survival. Don't think you know it all already, for the sake of you and your friends. You can never be too careful! My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost someone. Now lets have some fun this year! :beer;:beer;

Education is your first line of defense.......all the other stuff out there (airbags, beacons, shovels, probes, etc) are for if you actually get caught where you don't want to be.

Take as much avy education as possible. Mike Duffy does a GREAT job.
