TOM,s SNOWMOBILE "CLUTCH"Is It BS?

I had a conversation with Tom awhile back when he expressed his excitement about some new primary arms which he has designed. He indicated they will gain 10 mph track speed. Now 10 mph is alot!I have a mod 880 race motor in a fully moded XRS,156X2.5. and Thundershift clutch kit, I have 58 to 62 mph track speed at this time and holds 8250 on a climb. The weight distribution is throughout the arm and aprox 62 grams with oversized rollers.415,s,160/320 My delima is that I maintain hugh track speeds on a climb but I suffer on a flat full throttle run,Cannot get my setup to shift all the way out. This has been problem with SkiDoo,s primary. Either clutch for the hills or for the flats .When Tom told me about these I felt ."Why would he claim such an inprovement when he knows "I will find the truth and end results.I gave them a shot.Whats a few more bucks when I look at the overall investment in this sled..I really did not expect to see this gain above which I,ve seen with the Thundershift,s..We,ll these arms flat rip,My track speed is the same on a hill and this kit kept pulling super hard at near 80,Was still pulling hard but had to shut her down since snow conditions were poor.It pulled just as hard at 60 as it did at 35.I dont know yet where it will settle out at but have already seen about 12 to 15 mph over my old setup, Checked the marks on primary and its shifting out further than ever.3/8 inch from the top. These arms have a completly original profile not seen on OEM arms. How can this make such a change? Talk to Tom.He told me he,s been working on these and the results are Real!.Choose to be skeptic .Suit yourself. I not looking for an arguement so if you choose to disbelieve "Fine."And no I do not work for Tom ,Nor have I ever met him,However his dedication and love for the sport has enhanced my sleds performance and my enjoyment.

i purchased a pair of fox float evos from tom and i was treated very well, he was extremely helpful and did not act like he had something better to do also his information was spot on

Ok... so did you gain any track mph during a climb? I dont really care if my sled goes 70 or 80 mph but id love to pick up 10 mph on a hill. sj
My thundershift setup was tuned and targeted for the climb,Dialed but by doing so I gave up the top speed. This new setup maintained that 58 to 62 track speed in the deep but continues to pull.I suspect it was pull harder on a climb in hero snow since it keeps on gaining Mph

Tom is an outstanding dealer and I am proud to say I have done business with him for about 12 years if not more. I spoke with him a few weeks ago about clutching setups and he did mention the clutching set up that the post referenced. Tom and I discussed the setup that I am running versus the one he has put together. This post just made me realize I need head over there. We are very lucky to in this part of the Country to have such a great dealer.

Track HP is measured by acceleration....not a good guage of trackspeed/backshifting, etc.

E-mailed Tom and got a good run-down. Talked to Casey on the phone....they are mountain guys, not drag guys....so all their testing is mountain specific. I suspect these are like Heavy Hitters but a bunch cheaper....moves the weight from the tip to the arm. A guy might want to try RT1000 arms as well.....

Your point is well taken however I replaced my Thundershift[AKA Heavy Hitters} with these new ones and saw these gains

I should make one correction.I understand Tom didn,t make the arm,He took an arm made by a friend and adapted its shift pattern to match the power curve of the 800
