So are we able to ride out of all the normal parking lots (Morningcreek, Woodland, etc) after April 1st or do some of the parking lots only have trails leading out (being as how we're supposed to stay on roads)?
Snopark permits expire April 30. I have heard a rumor that you need a permit called a trailhead permit to park at woodland or morning creek. I think if you park at Spout you would be okay because of the cabin owners. I am not sure if this is true and I don't know if they will be enforcing it anyway.
I guess we'll know after the weekend, I searched the National Forest website and Oregon state and could not find anything about not parking after April 30. There is no signage up there that I have ever seen?
On the Umatilla National Forest Website it states:
**NOTE: The Umatilla National Forest does not have any trailheads participating in the Northwest Forest Pass at this time. A pass is not required for day-use at any trailhead on the Umatilla National Forest.** http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/uma/passes/index.shtml
I would be leary of parking at the Tamarack because that is private property to get out of there and it is my understanding those trails are closed now. At least from the SnoParks you are on Forest Service ground.
well rode all afternoon....it was sunny and 50 degrees...pretty fun for a MAY ride....crazy that my first ride was Dec 1 and my last was May 2.. alot of riding this year.
Bone Springs Juneuary 11th 08! 2 feet fresh
We ran into the forest service on the way down, they were plowing the road into Jubilee Lake, so I guess it's really over for the year now here.
Well the snow is still too deep at Timothy Springs Jct to go any further in the truck. Tempted to get the ole RMK out for a few turns to check out Bone Springs. Skyline had too much snow to drive through also. Hopefully the Snow Gods bless us again next year.
