Tolerable pipe damage

I kissed a tree on this last trip causing my bumper to contact the pipe. It looks like the heat shield took most of it, but it probably did impact the pipe a bit - the deepest point is maybe 5/16''. What's your guys opinion? Does the shield separate easy for a better look?

It happened on the way down to the trailer, and I was with a buddy nursing a mangled A-arm so it never saw much more than about 4500rpm.

I'm sure its ok and I'm worrying about nothing...

Or maybe it's horrible, and I need a PAR 910 and SLP pipe stat !:bounce:

Pipe damage

The pipe itself may not even be dented, just the heat shield. Even if it was, that isn't in an area that is critical. However, just to be sure, you better do the 910 thing with a new pipe..... :face-icon-small-win

The heat shield is easy to remove; just get a set of pliers and start separating it at the seam and it pulls it apart easily.
As for the dent; I smacked my sled off a tree last year on my third ride and put a dent in the pipe in the same place. I already had my heat shield removed and put a dent that big in the pipe; it did not cause any problems and my sled has always ran awesome.
If I were you, I'd pull the pipe, remove the heat shield and send the pipe and "Y" pipe to Specialty Sleds in Edmonton to get ceramic coated. It only costs about $200, looks awesome and makes the pipe hold the heat in better. You'll have a better running sled!!
