Togwotee to West Yellowstone

Just wondering if it is possible to ride from Tog to West Yellowstone? We are planning a trip for next year to Tog and would like to take a side trip to West Yellowstone for a couple of days if possible. If so, how long does it take and what is the best route? Do you have to go through the park or can you get around it? I don't know what they have for regulations (ie. - sound?).

cd trail goes from togwotee mountain lodge to the town of west yellowstone. i think it is 45-50 miles one way. you cant go into the park unless you are guided and renting THEIR sleds. you could probably day ride up there eat lunch see the city and return. if you wanted to overnight up there i am sure a hotel or lodge could accomodate you. ski

Information

There are a number of changes going on as it relates to the National Park and Continental Divide Trail System. The trail is being closed from Moran Junction up to Flagg Ranch. Grassy Lake Road from Flagg is open to limited number of 2 stroke sleds. The trail thru Yellowstone requires to be guided and on Park approved sleds. Also, National Park Service has decreased the daily allocation of sleds in the Park. If you wish to see West Yellowstone, there are number of outfitters doing 2 day trips to West Yellowstone from Flagg Ranch. I operate Yellowstone Snowmobile Tours, Inc and Turpin Meadow Ranch.
