Togwotee lodge. Im posting my rant just to get it out to let you all know what it is like to stay there

Friday, at 3:00 p.m;. we go to the bar and have a late lunch and drinks. (we all know what happens here) at 5:00 the bartender comes over and asks for a credit card to secure our bill ( no biggie) at 7:00 same guy comes over and warns our tab is at 200.00........ at 8:00 the new bar maid comes over and lets us know she is the only bar staff left and she wont be doing rounds anymore, we will have to get our own drinks at the bar. At this time people there are 12 people in the bar including her. One of the guys in our group tells the bartender he will TIP her 20.00 for every round she brings us.....she never came back.. 10:30 we finish our poker game and go to the bar and settle our 600.00 bar tab...........2 of our group go out the front door to smoke and 2 out the side door to the room....we were approached not once but twice.....while leaving the bar about tipping the bar staff.......SERVICE

rooms........we rent two rooms for one nite each 129.99 a piece. two guys to a room. on Saturday nite we rent a suite with 4 beds for 149.00 plus 10.00 for each guy over two in the room......WHY HAVE 4 BEDS AND THE EXTRA 20.00 (169.00) IF YOUR GONNA CHARGE 10.00 PER GUY.
not to mention the "friends of the forest" donation they charge you with

lol Damn Luke, glad I didnt go :D go to the wyoming section of the forums, same rant by different sledder

Must have been a bad weekend for Wyo. Albany Lodge tried to charge me for a rental sled i didn't even rent. I thought about it after rocking mine but looked at the bent up sleds they had a decided that I would probably end up buying it if I hit a pine cone... Next time don't fill out a contract until you pull the cord...

ya.. the lodge is kinda hit and miss anymore.. really wish they could get some better staff in there.. or at least staff that is good all the time..

we were approached by the groomer dude of all people and the guy that tended bar in the afternoon wh owas sitting at the bar drinking.

Sorry man! I grew up around there. I remeber getting picked up there when the CD trail first started up they treated sledders alot better then. Now its so comercialized they could care less. People go there for vacations from the city BS. Last time I was there the staaf looked like they walked out of a KLIM outfitters show room and half of 'em came from NY city!!! get a rope!

A couple alternatives to Togwotee Lodge....
We've stayed several years at Line Shack & Crooked Creek.

You couldn't beat Crooked Creek when the Jeff's had it.

Debbie does a good job at the Line Shack & Mike is the best guide we've ever experienced.

However....
Keep in mind these places need to be flexible enough to care for 12 guest or 80 guests or more . Pretty challenging to do that & print black ink at the same time.

When we had issues, we went to manager directly and asked. (not demanded)

It isn't fair to come on here & bash if you never attempted to resolve in person in the 1st place.

I disagree I don't know about you but I work hard so that I can enjoy my time to play. They are there to work and take care of YOU! Bottom line...

I've certainly seen other groups of sledders that wear their welcome out quickly.
(not saying this was the case here)
No doubt it can be tough to be pleasant all of the time.
We all have our less than good days.

People, remember that we are guests at these places.
Try to behave as a guest should.
After all, you are representing all other snowmobilers.

I can assure you gentlemen, we were not out of line. Our group does a fair amount of trips to several locations Laramie, Cooke City, Rabbit Ears, Waldon, Togwotee, Alpine....never have we been treated as we were this past weekend

I didn't mean to imply you were out of line.
I can understand however that dealing with the public can wear anyone down, and all people have their bad days.

Then they're in the wrong business.
They are providing a service to people who are paying good money for it.
If I were concidering a trip to that area I would not bother staying anywhere that the folks running it treated me as though I was in their way and bothering them.

I hope the owners of the lodge see this and realize that the bad day had by some of their employees has potentially lost them some future business.

First off, I am not implying this is the case here......BUT.........

I had a boss tell that the old saying that "the customer is always right" is a load of crap. The customer is sometimes wrong! And there are some customers that you do not want.
And frankly, Some of them are so stupid that they don't even realize when you're trying to insult them.

I have found this advice to be true more than you would think.
And it was nice knowing your boss had your back if you got into it with a customer.

May I ask what business you're in or do for a living?

At that time, we sold & worked on boats, PWCs, sleds, Ford & Chrysler vehicles.

And yes, some of the customers were not worth messing with. But the ones that were got treated very well.

i agree with hiherthanu we stay at tog 3-5 times a year and service at the lodge is good with the exception of the bar we always get treated like crap when we go in there and we have always been good customers and tipped very good. Thats why we just rent cabins and bring in our own boose. That place is terrible on the customer service end of things i shouldn't have to beg to get a drink when the only thing the bar tender is doing is sitting ther BSing with the rest of the staff and ignoring their customers.

So it's ok for the lodge employees to not give 100% all the time because dealing with customers can wear them down? Would it be ok for your sled shop not to fix your sled 100% because fixing sleds can wear them down?

A guest is someone you invite to stay at your home. A customer is someone who pays to stay at your lodge.
