hey guys,

first time posting in the 900 section, but not the first time researching

there is a 2005 900 for sale that i could probably grab for 2000 dollars has slp pipe and can, better boards, boondocker nitrous, boondocker control kit, simmons skis, an extra mountain fit iqr hood in addtion to the stocker

the bad: he said ever since he put the boondocker control box on it hasnt ran right, he also said that the recoil is broken. no updated motor mounts, no updated pistons..it runs but has a bog to about a quarter throttle ( he said because of the control box) could it actually be tps?

ive been searchin high and low in the 900 section for almost the past week...and i think i can handle picking this thing up for the price if i can make it run right again

what do you guys think?

Bad ground on the boondocker box could be the problem, you could take it off and sell the boondocker and nitrous too if it runs without it.

read this post first. http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112723

Personally the nitrous on a 900 would make me nervous. Nitrous has burned up alot of engines over the years. Figure on putting new pistons in it right away if you plan on keeping the nitrous or you are just asking for trouble. Move the ground on the boondocker box to one of the pull start bolts and it might run right. Plan on pulling the engine right away and changing the motor mounts, and fixing the pull start. If the primary has not been professionally balanced plan on doing it right away too and checking crank run out. New fuel and oil filters to make sure you are getting all the fuel it needs for the nitrous.

yeah that was my plan if it falls through..what doyou think a guy could get for a nitrous setup and the fuel control box

I would think for about 500 or less into you could have it good to go for this year as long was the crank run out was not to bad. So 2500 total investment to be out riding.

i assume broken recoil means you can't start it.. if i were you i would make sure its remotely runs. use the emergency strap if you have to, check compression. turn the primary make sure its okay.... with 05 pistons these things could shatter a skirt and its alot like **** hitting a fan.... pieces go everywhere and detroy it. also mine sounded like it was just running on one cylinder i thought it was spark or fuel problem.. turns out it was much bigger then that(piston blew up)

but listen to zman to a tee.

it runs and everything, you can ride it just have to start it from the primary..

sorry threewalker im keepin the pipe and can

ill post some pics if everything works out

Get it, pull the engine, change the pistons, replace the motor mounts, balance the clutch, fix the pull start with either armor cord or winch rope, replace fuel and oil filter, make sure the boondocker box is grounded to a pull start bolt and ride it.

You can always put it back to stock start it and go from there. If all else fails and you have other options great if not you could PART IT OUT for more than you paid.

do you have the jumper for the boondockers control box...plug in the bypass and remove the box and see if the bog is gone.

if he has the box grounded to the brown OEM wiring harness, thats causing the bog, remove that and route the control box to the recoil housing...

report back.

$2000 is a deal! Let Zman get on that if you dont

thanks guys really appreciate all the help, im probably headin up there this weekend to pick it up cant wait to tear into it

one other thing, i found a thread on HOW to check the runout on a crank, but what tool do you use? like a caliper/micrometer?

GUIDO: what do you mean by the jumper for the boondocker control box?

anyone give me a link on where to buy 06 motor mounts?

i dont have a pic. but if you do not want to use the control box on the sled or if you wanna mess with the control box without the sled running, there is a jumper wire that just clips in place of the control box on the sled...

if you play with box off the sled, you attach the jumper wire with a 9v battery and you can pwr the box off the sled to make maps to learn the box, if you ride sled w/o the box, you add jumper inplace of the control box.

there is a ground wire that attaches to the conrol box wiring harness that MUST be grounded to the recoil.

if the sled doesnt have the jumper included (i keep mine in the tunnel bag) call boondockers and buy the jumper, plug it in the sled, pull pff box and see if the bog is gone.
