To all West End Sledders members:

The USFS has asked West End Sledders to participate in a meeting to discuss upcoming planning for the lynx study. In speaking with Janelle Kukuk, she has advised that this would be a very good time for us to have some discussion with the Forest Service and allow them to persuade us to assist them with their study. It appears that we have the opportunity to have our concerns heard as well as perhaps work with the FS on this subject for future planning. I would encourage any and all members to attend.

Wednesday March 28th.

Norwood town hall.

7:00pm.

Thank you,
Aaron Todd (CSA)
Taken from the Colorado Snowmobile Association.

Only Lynx I have ever seen is in a zoo and the fabricated ones in the Vail Daily. Never even seen a track. hmmmmmmm?

Dude we have a bunch here in the san juans. Sometimes we wear the tracking bands for the forest service girl here. I guess it is to gauge travel impact on thier natural territory. We see them pretty regularly in the winter.

Not up here. White River, Routt, etc. Seen plenty of big cats and bobcats but no lynx.

Why in the *HELL* are you participating in that crap?

Take those tracking bands and pitch them in the nearest dumpster. Seriously.

Anyone who is voluntarily participating in that racket needs to have their heads checked. All they're doing is using "us" to screw "us" over.

I was thinking the same thing... They are tracking US. OUR movements around a habitat where they THINK lynx may be. WHY would we be helping them make a case against us? You truly believe they are getting that data and saying, oh look this group of snowmobilers only got within a mile of the lynx, Thats good????? Come on.

i call BS.....wow, you got to be kidding by posting this....its funny how no matter what parking lot you launch from VP to CB to Silverton...its always a pair of girls magically showing up to ask you to wear that gps tracker...

your simply giving them data to be used against mechanized travel.

:moony:
Bad Move Snoman1174... You aren't helping anything, you are participating in data collection that will be used in an attempt to close riding areas in the future. The data will likely be used by the original collector in whatever context she represented to you and then others compiling and citing the data in further studies will absolutely use it in moves against both our sport and our future access to the backcountry. Take it from someone who worked in natural resource research studies for a few years.

Think ahead people...stop participating in the demise of our sport.
