I thought I would take a moment to share a sad story. Last weekend while playing up at the lakebed on our quads, we noticed some activity about a mile up the lake... Two Dirt Bike riders rode straight into a 6ft deep 8ft wide ditch in the lake bed at a high rate of speed while enjoying their trip up to the Rimrock lake the day before the Rimrock race. One rider managed to walk away from the accident, but the other rider was not so lucky, he broke his neck on impact. The ambulance was quick to respond being 30 miles west of town and after an evaluation called in a Life Flight Helicopter to airlift the rider to the hospital. Tragically, the rider passed away the next morning.

I do not know who it was, but I wish his family the best, my thoughts and prayers are with them.:(:rose::brokenheart:

To all of my fellow riders here on SnoWest, PLEASE remember as we get closer and closer to beginning the sport we all share in common, to slow down and make sure that we all are aware of our surroundings and have a safe time in the great outdoors.

The following are some pictures and a short video of the aftermath of the accident, at this time all that was known was that the first rider most likely had a broken neck. He was wearing a Tek Vest, Helmet, Gloves, and all the other standard protective gear, it was not enough:(:rose:

Please be careful out there:)

The rider in question was on the green motorcycle in the ditch in front of the Ambulance.

that is sad to hear.I have been going to rimrock lake my whole life.my parents have a cabin up there.have ridden my bike there a lot the last couple years and that lake bed has a lot of hidden (holes) in plain sight.

my condolences to his family and friends.truly sad to hear.

Good post ford ! I ride with a guy in his early 20s he is nuts . He jumps any thing without looking what might/might not be on the other side. I keep I keep telling him that someday his luck will run out but that does not detur him at all. I hope when it does the outcome is better than that fellas was. I learned the hard way I wish others did not have to.

God bless his family. Sad to hear of these accidents, but a good reminder for us to be careful and safe out there.

How sad.:brokenheart: R.I.P We just had to burry my best freinds son about a month ago from a car accident. There is nothing worse. Look before you leap....something I have stressed to my boy and the others we ride with repeatedly.

Yes it is alway sad to hear about such things...

I know just how dangerous motorsports, or any sports for that matter can be... I walked a way from my crash with only a shattered left wrist... I was extremely lucky, as I should not have walked away... life has a way of catching up to you... I have being riding dirtbikes, snowmobiles, etc since I was under ten and never got hurt until 30 + years later... never take any thing for granted... I still ride, just a bit smarter and less out of control...

Everyone be smart, be safe and enjoy....
