TNytro lean idle

I know this has been discussed somewhat before but I can't find quite the info I need.

My A/F is showing over 18 at idle on my Nytro. (NW turbo, Pure Logic, stock fuel system)

I do have an obvious exhaust leak which can be seen but can't be cured due to crappy exhaust clamping.
Would an exhaust leak cause this severe leaning out at the sensor?

My O2 sensor is about 30" or so behind the turbo and about 12" from the exhaust tip.(These are rough estimates)

Anytime I blip the throttle from idle the A/F instantly goes to a rich condition. (11ish)

Anybody else have this problem with a lean idle?

Thanks for the info.

You generally find an issue with a lean idle since there is no load, as long as it richens up when it gets load.

It definitely gets rich as soon as the throttle is touched. I just want to make sure she isn't going to burn up while idling. It sounds good and has a good amount of idle time with no probs.

The sled wouldn't even run if the A/F was 18 and up, right?

i wouldnt worrie to much about being lean at a idle what kind of gauge you running and you should try playing with you control box to get it down does it try to stall on you cuz its to lean usualy if its any more then 16 tend to stall

You wont burn anything up when under no load aka idling. If you get too lean it will start to sputter and if it goes even leander it will just shut off.

I'm running an AEM wideband. No more than 300kms on it.

I can't adjust my idle with the Pure Logic controller unfortunately.

And it idles perfect, no stutter or anything.

ya i would just turn the idle up a bit more but if its not trying to stall then it will be ok whats the gauage say when your just at a cruzing speed when the lites are green ??

Under 50 km/hr it reads about 11.5 and above 50 km/hr it reads near 13 while cruising. I am still trying to tune it to have all ranges run around 11.5 A/F. I'm not really liking the Pure Logic, it's seems very generic and there isn't too much info on these boxes available.

i think that them boxes are actualy good once you get them tunned right you should be around 12.5 range riding keep playing with it. How much boost are you running? what are your settings on your control box?

I have my boost turned right down to 6-7 lbs. I found out through tuning my stock fuel system cannot support 12+ lbs at 1800ft elevation. She was hitting some pretty lean numbers WOT.

I'll let you know my PL box settings after work. I do know right now I have my WOT throttle(red) setting maxed and I'm still seeing 13+ WOT.

no you must have somthing set up wrong what is you altitude compensation setting at that would be your (redblue) the stock system will run at 15 psi pushing it. Give me you control box mods i mite be able to help you out

it is just you exhaust leak allowing more air to the sensor thats why it is normal once you give it gas the exhaust pressure stops excess air from getting to the sensor.guys that run the strait short pipe see this quite often mine sits at 16.5 at idle short pipe 6000km no probs.when 4s are lean the pop allot when you get on the gas or will pop when you shut them off.it could be the pl box to if they get wet the can do some crazy things.:beer;

Sorry I won't be able to get the PL box settings tonight. It's 7:50pm and
-32 celsius right now. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caab0075/ :(

I have a NW turbo kit with the Garrett T25.

The Impulse tuning guide says the yellow/blue is the altitude compensation and mine is set up around the #4 led.

It says the red/blue is the main jet circuit switch point.

What do you mean by control box mods? I'm not familiar with them and I don't know what may be done to it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll pull my box off and get her somewhere warm for awhile.
