Tki belt swap on axys 3" chain ?

Any one swap their chain case to tki belt set up? Curious on this... Most likely going to do it.

If you do it... I'd suggest switching out to the QuickDrive bearing carrier assembly (backer plate) etc... you will have more gearing options.

Spoke w tom for hour almost, since my sled is on boost going to run the 2.33 ratio and order a second ratio that's two steps higher than stock for more track speed since I'm on boost. My clutching is spot on so trying to maintain that. Tom informed me how weak the chain drives are these days. I'm going to make the move for sure. Look forward to hearing more about it. Thanks

2 x 2016 axys 163" 2.6& 3"..... bm fab bumpers and burly boards on order, silber turbos at 5 and 7 #, fly next level bars, z bros 36" front end, exit shocks, C&A skis, speed shop Inc clutching w helix & head w domes.

what has been changed on the chain and case setup ?
i didn't hear anything

don't get me wrong i think the belt drive setups are sweet
but i haven't heard any reports of increased chain failures
in the last few years

in fact i've never personally seen a hyvo failure
(does that constitute a jinx ?? :face-icon-small-ton)

After speaking with tom he told me how they are casting/ pressing the gears in chain drive models now... It's basically a fail safe for Polaris warranty bc it will break or explode after a certain hp level is reached, if I was on a more stock set up I would not worry so much but I'm going to the stay on safe side of things and swap... This being said I've never seen failures either but if it happens your talking about a mess and $$$

thanks for the reply

must be a new thing hmmm.....

seems like a strange strategy a stock sled can create a lot of force in certain situations
hard failsafe to gauge

The stock HYVO gears have been Powder Metal for more than a decade. They have lightened the webbing with the release of the PRO Ride chassis. I've seen plenty of them let loose and take out the right side of the sled. They may have lightened them further with the release of the AXYS chassis. I will not run a chain in my sleds anymore, so others will need to confirm.

My $ goes to C3 as TKI's Sprockets are a different tooth profile than the carbon belts are. FWIW

I like this thread. I have a '16 163, 3" and it felt like it was geared too low. I am putting on a Silber this season as well and have been seriously considering going to the TKI as well.

NWAxys, did you feel like yours was geared too low as well?

I would like to hear more about your clutch set up and what different gearing you can do with the TKI kit.

I went with the 2.17 gear from TKI on mine and it honestly feels like it's geared right now. Having the stock gearing in it (I can't remember the ratio now for some reason... 19/43? Maybe) would definitely be a little short for me. The turbos need the load to make heat to drive the system.

dirty steve.... my 2.6 belt on silber at 5 lbs is on almond red primary 78g and a heavier secondary that was the package that silber sent me for it.... my 3" is on 7lbs and I'm running a custom Speed shop inc helux weights and springs... talking with tki I don't want to loose my clutching bc it perfect for trees and what I do. has nasty backshift and very playful. tom said try the 2.33 or stock setting but also go two ratios higher for better trackspeed he thinks with my set up the higher ratio will produce lots more trackspeed and pull on hills.... I might actually sell the 3" axys to my buddy but well see got an 850 coming too and might slap tki on there either way I wanna continue this thread to learn more on the tki
