Title info

K here is my situation, have had an 02 for sale, sold and supposed to be delivering it tomorrow. Well went to pull the title out and got the titles for my other stuff but no title for the 02, searched high and low and nothing.
In Idaho we have to transfer the title so we can do our registration and all that. Does anyone know if I can just sign a bill of sale essentially signing the sled over to the buyer and then have him apply for the tittle in his name? Or do I have to send off for it, then sign it over to him and have him get a new title after I have signed mine over to him? Any info is greatly appreciated right now. Supposed to be leaving in the AM to deliver it to Missoula.

You should be able to wright a bill of sale and release all inteterest of the sled. If you have the registration give that to him as well. He should be able to file for a lost title but he might need you to sign some things from the DOL as well. He could mail them to you when he gets them and you send them back so give him all you info. If not you might just have to file for a lost title. Good luck

If he doesn't need to title in Missoula you can sign off, releasing your liability. If your title can't be found and he needs one, he can file for a lost title and have an insurance company post a bond, the bond insures him against liability if it is found to be stolen. I had to do this with an 05 KK from out of state, the bond offers title and liability protection, after three months a new title will be issued in his name, provided you sign a detailed bill of sale indicating lost title.

Sounds like I could give a BOS that states I Release all use and Liabilty to the buyer. All you have to do in ID to buy a registration is have the vin. Thinking about it I have bought stickers for that sled just with the vin before the title got switched over the first time.
