Tires

What are you guys running on your off road rigs? Looking at getting some new tires but not sure which ones to get. I have a cj5 and was thinking about the BFGoodrich mud terrain KM2s.

I have been really happy with the new pro comp all terrain tire, 60,000 miles warranty, and a pretty decent mud and snow tire for a nice price, its a great all around tire, and a huge improvement over the stock wrangler AT/S that came standard with my truck.

What do you us the rig for, rockcrawling, mudding, cruising trails? The Km2s look like a nice tire, I have used the Geolander MTs on my Toyota with good luck. The CJ5 is a light rig, so the D and E rated tires may be too stiff.

Running Cooper Discoverer STT 32's under my 98 2dr Explorer Sport. Went as tall and fat as I could squeeze under her with a 2inch warrior shackle and turned the front torsion out to level for a 2in in lift and 2in increase in sidewall height and the fattest I could fit on a 16 rim. I've had the same set for over 2yrs now, great on snow, ok on ice and stellar in mud, rocks. They don't howl very loud going down the highway but you can sure hear them at low speeds or when braking or turning. Ride is not too stiff as I went with as wide as I could and only run about 50-55psi and the tire can go 85psi. I'm satified for my money after looking at what I wanted to stuff under her. I looked at Interco (super swamper), Toyo, BF Goodrich, Dick Cepek, Mickey Thompson. I really liked the Super Swamper SST but had no close by dealer. Then I saw the Coopers and discovered at the time it was the same tire that was done and researched why they looked alike and discovered Interco was the design company and it was the virtually the same tire just under different manufacturer names with slight tread variation. Honestly I would have bought the swampers but no dealer nearby. If I remember correctily I bought them for about $750 cash. A friend with a Jeep Wrangler put the same tire on 15in rims for about $110 a pop.
