Tires for My Wife's Chevy-What Should I Get???

Before the snow gets too deep, I need to put some new tires on my wife's 2007 Chevy 1/2 Ton Crew Cab 4x4. I don't want to put snow tires on her truck, but some really good all seasons. What is a good tire to put on her truck for the money. I would really like to get away from dropping a ton of money, but I also want a tire that will last awhile. The tire size that is on the truck right are 265/65R18. Thanks for your help guys!

The BFG Long trail TA's on my wife's Explorer are suprisingly good in the winter and are wearing well. I expect to get over 50,000 miles out of them based on how they are wearing.

I am thinking good year wrangler dura trac.Well mabye not just phoned they want $1246 bucks for a set installed.

They are a little spendy, but the Nokian Vativa's are the best I've tried yet in the snow.

My wife's Colorado also needs rubber. Looking at the Firestone Destination?? Any thoughts?

That is a decent tire for the money and 50,000 mile warranty. I've see a couple sets go 65,000 miles . Traction is good

The Destination is a fantastic tire. Put a set on the wifes Tahoe and immediately noticed a better ride compared to the stock GoodYears. 10000 miles later and they show no signs of wear.

On my 1/2 ton chev the best all around tire I ever ran was the Good/year wrangler AT/S. Got 82,000 miles out of them. I did also rotate and check air pressure every 3,000. The treads really cleaned out well.

After almost going with the Firestone Destination A/T, I installed Michelin LTX MS on the wife's Sequoia. Claimed to have really good traction on ice and decent traction in snow. Also claims the siping is all the way down vs Firestone siping which dealer (they sell both brands) says only goes about halfway thru the usable tread.

I also compared the cost per mile and though the LTX is more money, it actually came out about even in the long run because they are supposed to last a lot longer with 80k warranty listed on my invoice.

Go to tirerack.com and you can see tire comparisions/opinions from their opinion polls.

I'd consider the LTX on my truck if they offer an E rating, and I usually lean toward more aggressive All Terrain tread like the BFG All Terrains or the FS A/T.

just put cooper zeons on my chevy. nice looking tire, decent tread. salesman spoke highly of them but then again he is a salesman:rolleyes:

I really liked the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's I put on my 1/2 ton Chevy. They are a soft compound so they are excellent in the snow. I think they are much better than BFG AT's (which I've owned a couple times). They won't last as long as some others because they are a soft compound. They look sweet too. I got over 35K on mine and they were at about 65% worn.

I also think that the Michellen (sp?) LTX AT's are great tires. Not much to look at but they do well in the snow and just a really good all around tire. They are pricey but they wear really well too.
