I have been tire shopping for my new buggy, a 00 f250 with a powerstroke in it.. its not a light truck and sees a LOT of time on the snow/ice and back dirt roads cruising to find snow or just to play in the woods. I know a few folks running the m55's and just looking for peoples opinions. I hear they are a little loud.. but my exhaust is louder I GUARANTEE, so I dont care about that, the big selling points for me is the nice lookin tread and they suposedly last pretty dang long.

Just looking for peoples experience.

I work in a shop and see lots of ranchers running those m55's, they wear like iron and their no louder then any other mud and snow tire. But for the price they are getting for them here I would rather put a set of BFG T/A K/O on my truck. In fact I run BFG's and they are a great looking tire and seem to hold up really well for what I use them for.

I ran m55s for years on my cummins,up and down logging roads every day.Only had 1 flat ever! good in snow too.Would still run them if came in 37s,now its toyo MTs

If you're running a lot of gravel, there is no better tire around. Wear like no other, good tread. The only problem is that they're a little expensive.

The 55 is a great tire and wears very well, just rotate them every 5k or so I am running the MT 37"s now and like them except it does not do nearly as well on the ice.

Well.. I like them except on all of my searches, i CANNOT find a more expensive tire in the normal sizes.. I realized I like them, but a little out of my budget range, and with driving maybe 10k miles a year... I am gonna look elsewhere.

also found a nice set of used cooper discoverer st's locally for pretty cheap.

I've had two sets of them(both studded) and they are the best winter tire I've ever used. I went to get another set for my Yukon and they wanted almost $200 each. I'll just stick with my old BFG's for now even though I will have to chain up more often. Ken....

ahah.. For 10ply ones for my new ford I bought.. I was looking at $262 locally... not installed or balanced. the total intstalled was just shy of $1200 for a 265/75/16... NO THANKS!! I can get a set of the coopers I wanted installed for close to half that.. and im used to driving sand style tires in the snow on my old lifted chevy, they SUCK .. so I just need something with a deep enough tread for the more agressive stuff I drive, and will last a little while.

I have ran through several sets of the Cooper STT's 33x12.5x17. I am getting 40-50k out of them on my 04 Cummins. They get pretty loud when they are below 50% thread left. But the price is right. I also have them center siped. They get around on the slick stuff very well IMO.

I love my 55's, I run them on a dodge one ton dually. I drive around 40,000 miles a yr. with a large amount off road. I run them all yr. round, and get two winters out of them. I will be due for a new set this next summer. I will have around 50,000 on them in the spring. They have around 30,000 on them now, and are close to 50% now. I have run many diffrent types of tires from A/T to M/T tires of all brands. IMO the 55's are the best tire for the dollar. If you put togeather durability, miles, traction, and noise.
