Tinted m series headlight covers?

They are really down on quality from years past-
the dark smoke- heck you can see right through it now/ 2 seasons ago they were really dark

Spendy @ $40.00 for the set- but your local Cat dealer should be able to hook you up !

I've thought about painting mine, they"re not dark enough and yyou can see the white velcro tabs right through the light covers. They look good from far away...How could I go about painting them?

Check with a sign company. Someone that makes light up signs and such. I do alot of plastic work and I get my paint from my local sign shop. It is a flexable, translucent paint that is made to stick to plastic and lets light through. So you could paint them black but still be able to see light through them. Also should be available my just about any color imaginable.

I got the tinted ones from Cat, then taped off the front and painted them black on the back side. Looks nice and evil.

If you want to see through them, but just have them darker try "night-shade's". It's a black tint spray in a can that people use to smoke tail lights.

Use it on the back though because it still isn't very glossy looking.

I went to a local body shop, they mix black paint with clear coat. Make sure they know what they are doing, it is a little bit of a process. The shop right down the road from me does them for $50.00 a pair. He also smoked out the taillights on my f250. I can still see fairly decent at night and in daylight the headlights look black.

Worst case if no one does it in your area pm me and I will get you his info, you can ship your lights to him and have them back in a week or so.

Do you have any pics? What paint did you use? Thanks!

Just a $3 dollar can of Krylon. Scuffed em up with a scotchbrite first and sprayed them.
If you do the back side, the front stays completely glossy. Looks factory.

I just pull them off and throw them in my pack if it gets dark or too cloudy out.

There's a little photo shop in the corner where I blacked out the edge of the headlight that could be seen.

i can't belive no one has said to use whats called ''black rocker gaurd'' or ''stone guard''.. i put the black rocker guard on mine last week. it's just a really thick sticker.. goes on like any decal kit would a little soapy water, squeege, heat gun or blow dryer i would get permission from the wife before u steal her blow dryer..trim off the excess and done.. sled looks awsome headlights look nice and dark with sled off and has decent light when running.. they will never fall off and if you really want them back to stock. just peal it off.. much better than permenatley painting them..i will post pics when ever i can figure out that exspensive digital camera of the wifes.. nothin beats the 30 dollar sh!&$ digital i have for sleddin but cant find it anywhere.. just my 2 cents

i know u guys were talking about covers...but thats what they look like too.. this way it looks like you bought them tinted. u know more custom and personal the just a velcro stick um over lay.. i do alot of boondocking in the trees and well i would not want my hard earned money nocked off my sled and left in the bushes..i agree with you guys on how simple it is. when it gets dark putem in your back pack and you still get lots of light but my way is just more custom and well if your really screwed you can peel the rock guard off.. just my 2 cents.. have fun ridin

Where do you get this rock guard? An auto parts store?

rock guard.. can be bought @ most sign shops. or automotive accesories shop. even might find it @ a window tint shop.. you will love this stuff also you can google headlight tint and there are a bunch of companies on there that will sell it to you..

spay paint does work good but you have to shell out some dough for new lights if you want to go back to stock.. its all about the rocker guard or stickers..whatever you want to call it
